how hard of a swap is it to get the old one off and new one on?

The nuts that hold it on are a little hard to get at becaue of the angle but other wise its not that bad of a deal.

would it be better to tackle it with a wrench or sockets?

well 10 mm socket with a long "wobbler" extension since he angle is wierd .regular wrenches its hard to grab the nuts. A little pentatrating oil is a nice add to a day or 2 before the operation.
