Sorry about the pictures; didn't see today coming and just had my phone on me. Although in the right conditions, the 8330 isn't half bad. So:

It was like seventy degrees with a lovely breeze going on today, so I gave the car its first decent cleaning since I got it. I don't know what kind of dog the guy I bought this from had, but it must have gone bald twice a week.

You can't see it, but there's still some pink gummy crap by the inside of the driver seat. I think it's factory threadlock, there was some on a bolt on the seat itself.

Also! Found this guy at an 'Eat'n Park' in Bridgeport. I left him (her?) a message with 3Geez.com on it. :)

Went for a drive last Friday afternoon (got drunk and left my camera at a buddy's house). Tried to do video but the camera was pretty much pointed out the bottom corner of the window.

Would've gotten more at a couple other spots but the light was about done when I got the last of these.

Very nice car! Do you have anymore plans for it?
Sure do, the engine is in fantastic shape but the suspension is kinda sloppy. I'm trying to save up and replace all the bushings and ball joints at once, and possibly get some new struts. No idea what's after that.

oh yeah, any one notice his steering wheel is turning right.. but his tires are turning left?? LOL
Yeah it's just turned a little under 360 degrees. :D

You too are rocking the stock "caps"-- Hell yeah. Looks good, nice ride.
Yeah I really like them, but mine are fucked. They're all cracked and they look like someone repainted them at some point. I looked for some replacements but couldn't find any genuine Hondas that weren't cracked.
Woah, there are a lot of people with beige-on-red 3g coupes. I have one, too. Stock, unfortunately.
I don't understand what made people think that was an attractive color in the 80s. I can't stand it. My old Accord (CB7 EX) had that color, but it was a lot redder and even worse. The only reason I can put up with this interior is because it's a step in the right direction. :)

Didn't really like the way this one turned out, but it's a good example of what 250 North out of WV looks like:

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817a.jpg

Yes, indeed. Still not entirely connected thanks to my outrageously rusted cat flange.

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817b.jpg

Still not quite finished with this piece; the driver-side bracket is fubar'd, dropped it off at the shop this morning.

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817c.jpg

New (to me) head unit - this replaced the OEM tape deck, which still works. I can play CDs now!

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817d.jpg

2 x Infinity Reference 1052w 10" - I actually bought one of these three years ago to put in my Prelude, but wrecked it before I got around to it. Bought the other one a couple weeks ago. Both brand new, never opened like five years after they were made. :)

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817e.jpg

Rust is a little worse than I thought it was... got two new quarter panels in the basement waiting to go on.

http://designbyjoey.com/ca6/090817f.jpg

So yeah, actually been getting some crap done this summer. I still have a couple other parts on the way and a few other things in the shop waiting to be put on. School starts back up next week so time and funding will be dramatically reduced for a while. Spent most of my time working on someone else's car actually.

Wow that much have been a shocker... I've only seen A20A3's in person before this one. I guess there are more than a couple members with them but I'm still psyched to have one. And I think those bolts are actually pressed into the flange. I cut one off (took like half an hour, shitty air compressor) and the other half still wouldn't budge. It has all these little grooves around it that make it look like it was pressed. Whatever, I'm having a shop smash them out tomorrow.

Nice new toys for the ride
Heck yeah, I'm pumped. Looking at your many engine bay pictures has really got me motivated to put nice stuff on.

Honestly, at first (when it was half-ass connected) I was disappointed. Seemed like it lost torque below 3 and didn't really do anything else. After I had the flange fixed, it sounds a lot deeper and at around 4500 it starts making some power. I'd definitely buy it again.

Way shorter. I've done SSK's on Civics like a million times and this is the most dramatic I've ever seen it. I'm just going to cut a hole in the top of the heat shield.

Working on it... new light & bucket downstairs, fucked up the primer though so it's got to be re-re-painted.

And while it doesn't look short, remember that the part under the car is what makes it a real short shifter. The DC is well over an inch longer than the stock one so it's a very pronounced difference. I've changed them in EGs and EKs and they seem to have shorter throws to begin with, plus their short shifters just kinda knock on the heat shield. Mine polished it. :)

I know that. But, I've never seen a "short" shift kit with a longer...knobby thingy. The word has escaped my mind.

Joay
09-18-2009, 07:16 PM
Eh, it's a little shorter up top as well. If you've ever driven a Civic with a short shifter, you have to physically lean forward to get into first/third/fifth because they're too short. This one is still comfortably within reach. If you can find one I totally recommend it, feels great.

Ordered the new shift knob tonight and:

Indeed it is, but to clarify, this isn't the first one I bought. I found several websites that listed them as being available, although when I called 90% said 'Oh, no we don't have that anymore.' and just didn't take the page down.

I found one place that told me over the phone they still had them, so I bought one. I called them every three or four days for three weeks and the short version is they didn't have any. At first they swore up and down there were some in the warehouse and the distributor was having a hard time finding them. I told them they were discontinued years ago, but they were very insistent. Eventually they went so far as to claim that Pilot (company who does DC/AEM's manufacturing now) was making me a brand new one. I got my $130 back.

But they're still out there, just got to keep looking. :)

Since yours in an 89 I'm wondering if it's YR-59M or YR-94M. As far as I know, 59 was a 1988-only color and I've never found another member with the same paint as me. That and there are at least two different codes for Seattle Silver (which I think yours is) so I'm trying to figure out what all these goldish Accords have exactly.

Misty Beige (YR-59M) was available from '86-88, and Seattle Silver (YR-94M) was only available in '89. I swear to everyone on this board, they're the same color, just a different name. I'm going to call Honda and figure it out or something.

Yes! They came in on the 19th I believe, they're still chilling in the garage. Work has been absolutely nuts. Thank you though, like I said it's the first of many things I want to source from you. :)

Nope, nothing going on but school and work around here. :( Got some plans for the winter though. Hopefully I can roll out a little less stock for the next east coast meet.

90-93 Integra, I think. Might be from a 94-01, seen the same caps on a couple. The guy who gave them to me said they were from an Integra (and they say Acura).

I thought they were from a sixth-generation Civic, like Rendon said, but they're probably the same. I want them so bad. I'm so jealous that your coupe looks better than mine, now.

THey dont make the bars no more. Either you have to buy it from someone or get lucky an score one online someplace....ebay/craiglist exc.

Bought the strut brace and the header from maka_RTH. The bars seem a little fewer and far between than the headers for some reason but they're still floating around. Keep checking the classifieds.

And thanks for the love guys, I'm actually in the garage this weekend working on it. Pictures will be posted in the next week or so.

So I got my foglights a few months ago. They sat around for a while because I was always busy and the garage at work was always full. Earlier in winter, I started trying to install them in the totally wrong place because I don't know what the hell I'm doing, but eventually CAH, Carot and Aaron set me straight. Then I had to figure out how to wire them up.

The first harness, made from an EG A/C relay. Kinda ghetto, but worked perfectly (and I thought it was cool to use a Honda part).

Running the wires...

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100116b.jpg

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100116c.jpg

At this point the fogs turned on for a couple seconds, then one died. The bulb looked fine, but I wasn't getting continuity on one of the wires so I rewired the housing. Still nothing. Plugged the working bulb in and got light, so I went out and bought two new H3 bulbs. Then smoke started pouring out from under the dash.

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100123a.jpg

I put in 100-watt bulbs and had them on for about twenty seconds before the relay burned up. I should've thought about it for a second (100-watt foglights in a 22-year-old Honda?) but I just used the same wattage that was already in there.

Pissed off, out of patience and frustrated that it's been close to a year since I bought these fucking things, I went out and spent way too much money and overbuilt the harness:

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100123d.jpg

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100123f.jpg

Then after running all new wires for about six hours yesterday, I pushed the button and the one that didn't burn out the first time didn't come on. The one wire I ran through the fender (admittedly outside the loom) shorted. So now I have to pull that again and run a new wire. How it looks at the moment:

http://www.joeydesignsstuff.com/stuff/ca6/100124a.jpg

I know the first harness melting and the second one shorting have both been my fault, but god damn I never thought turning two lights on with a switch was this complicated. I have literally been working on this shit for four weekends. They did look pretty sweet when they were on for a few seconds though.

lol... every foglight set ive hooked up i just run the 2 postive lines in to one that is ran to switch then run to fuse box no relays or anything and then i just run the grounds to the bumper support =/

but the one you made looks really good and pro!

Joay
01-25-2010, 07:25 AM
Well I want them to work as close to stock as possible, with the exception of turning on with the running lights, which they do. I guess my car didn't come with the wiring and apparently it's a lot more complicated that I expected. Hopefully one day I'll find a DD and I can tear this apart and do it all nice...

I got 2 100w driving lights on my Sidekick I run off a relay to a switch. You could just wire into a running light wire to trip the relay. Simple and clean.

You never (Damn it, CAH...) want to run over 2 amps or 25 watts without a relay.

Joay
01-25-2010, 08:09 AM
I don't want them to come on automatically with the running lights, just have the option. Basically the relays (there only need to be two, as per the original setup, the new one is just redundant for each light) check (1) that the parking lights are on, then (2) if the fog switch is closed. After this is all put together I'll post a schematic so hopefully other members can do this without taking a month and frying their wires.

Exactly thats what I am doing as well. Let me know if you find a good place to mount the relays without any wiring showing. i was thinking inside the drivers fender cavitynear the factory loom. I forgot if these are folding or just JDM? I remember you having mounting issues. Either way your making good progress and the front end looks like its going to need alot fo work. Never had a fender off though so i cant say how much it really is. Nice Joay. I also never got a chance to thank you for supplying 2ndgenguy with all the 3geex stickers for the dicks meet in November. Thanks alot and they look great.

I put both my headlight relays behind the bumper under the passenger side head light. There is a lot of room in there if you don't plan to run a CAI.

They're from my 90 Prelude Si that I wrecked in 2007. They were on the white EG for a couple years and he just bought new wheels last week and I got them back. And yeah the right light only has one screw holding it in, the boss for the other one rusted off.
