View Full Version : can someone post a pic of the hood prop

i know, weird thing to ask for but when i bought my car 2 months ago the hood prop was just laying in the trunk. With me working on the car alot lately i would like to find out where it goes and how. I think i have found the spot where it use to mount but theres no bracket there to hold it so i want to make sure

it mounts on the front rad support behind the drivers side headlight and clips in to a plastic clip on the pass side. the clips are probably broken hence why its in the trunk , i had to keep mine in the trunk as well as it fell out once and almost jammed my radiator

is there a bracket for it to mount? i just had a small hole right there and it falls out when i put the hood prop there

you can kinda see it theres a plastic gromit that pops over the rod and into th hole you might have to go to a jy to find a decent one

While you're at the junkyard, swipe a holder for the other end from any 90-93 Accord. It fits perfect and holds up better over time. You won't find any holders on the 86-89s. They've all long since broken.

That's what I did, worked great. It's amazing the cacophony that is generated by a loose hood prop, hehe. I pulled over once to see if my engine was OK thanks to it bouncing around loose :)

I guess I'm just lucky then, cause on my last trip out to the jy I found one that looked brand new. The plastic was still glossy and everything. I was like :jaw:
