are there any interchangeable gears for the Accord so that i'm not revving out to 3000-rpms and beyond at highway speeds?

Not that I know of. When doing an Integra hybrid tranny build people still keep the stock 5th gear.

well my clutch is slipping, and i need to pull the transmission so i figured i might as well get a lower gear ratio so my highway engine speeds aren't so high...i'd be content at 2300-2500 rpms @ 70-mph

you'd prob find that your fuel consumption would increase if you went for a taller 5th gear.
it means the motor is working harder at lower revs to maintain the same road speed
when i done my auto/manual conversion the rev at 63mph went from 2750rpm to 3200 and the fuel economy got better
and its not coz of the auto sucking lots of power.
a honda auto has extremly low power drain once the lock up is engaged, not much more than a manual really.
i'd just keep the gears you have

stock 5th gear is okay i reckon, But ive said it would be greater if they could add a 6th gear to the b20a boxes, my b20a wants another gear once im in 5th cause it only seems like 4th

3000RPM is leisurely for a Honda. No problem at all.

ok time to do the rundown (god i feel like i have posted this 100 times now)

88-89 DX/LX Lowest gear ratio good for mpgs and some turbo apps
88-89lx-i/se-i mid range gearing
86-87 prelude si (will need prelude flywheel) even higher ratios over lx-i trans will swap without opening it up to swap gears
88-89 integra hybrid very quick gearing great for NA builds kiss your mpgs down the shiter consists of 1,2,3,4 form integra and 5th from accord

thats the most dulled down way to put it, i belive those are the only options out there but please anyone correct me, and anyone can chime in on the exact ratios

the difference between the carb and fuel injeted transmitions are the final gear ratio on the differential.

the fuel injected one is 4.006 and the carb one is 3.866...my final gear ratio is 4.2 with a stock accord 5th gear...i do like 2800rpm at 60mph...your only bet is to replace that clutch and go with a carb final gear

are you that guy that cruises on the street at 3000+ rpms in all gears?:tongue:

YEP!
not really tho
the point i'm trying to get across is that at 2300-2500 rpm the a20 i'm guessing you have wont be in the best part of its rev range to operate efficiently with the load you'd be putting on it @ 70mph

i guess i've just always owned cars with gears allowing it to hang around the 2000-2500 rpm range at highway speeds...so being in cars with small motors, and small gears just makes me cringe for the lifters,
