I scammed a civic from my mate, he has a civic coupe with a fucked engine and he bought the car for $200 for the motor and manual swap, he said if i swap his coupe to manual with the sohc d16.

now this car is rough as fuck, i dont know if im going to use this chassis, only got it cause it has live plates, the pics got deleted :(

AccordB20A
03-21-2009, 11:49 PM
wheels are going on my mates ej, Mate alex thinks it will be fixable and i dont mind filling it with body filler, its not a restore job its a DD haha

and im sorry to say the EJ is USDM theres nothing japanese about it lol its got honda of america all over it but there is jap writing on the fuse box etc, its prolly the wrong ek for you anyway as its the EG shape EJ not the EK type

LOL i know... it was kinda a joke.. nvm and actully all the EJ6 and EJ8 coupes were built in canada.. but parts were shiped from the states to them for them to build it

lol have fun with the DD and if it becomes a PIA just drive it into a lake, then its worth the small amount you paied

All the EJs I've seen here are made in Canada. Never seen a 92-95 Civic made in USA.

Looks like a rough project man. Might as well cut off as much sheetmetal as possible and make it a motor with frame and build a roll cage and use it as an off road buggy.

AccordB20A
03-22-2009, 12:14 PM
lol haha weight reduct it.

1st things 1st i have to convert it to auto and convert my mates coupe to manual, the motor the hatch will be running is a d15b vtec-e engine thats sitting in the coupe currently (doesnt work.. wiring failure) so today i think im going to remove the manual parts and engine from the civic and pull the eti motor from the ej and put the d16a7 into it and fire her up anmd see if it runs, then swap the pedals and shifter etc over

2oodoor
03-22-2009, 02:07 PM

poo poos d series crap
anyways i got started working today, removed the motor and box from the hatch and then the motor from the coupe, put the hatches motor in the coupe and hooked it all up, brrmmmm the coupe lives, now i have to do the rest of the auto to manual swap on the coupe and he can have it back

AND looking what i found in the hatch, random as the must be a replacement gearbox cause why would a nz new LXI civic have a LSD
http://imagehost.wohdog.sytes.net/Uploads/2009-3-2320049P3221224.JPG

So far the d16a7 is in the coupe all wired up axles in motor starts and runs mint.. with an error code 11 may i add... I removed the auto shifted and installed the rod shift, tomorrow i get the fun part of installing the clutch pedal/lines and master cylinder more pics then

AccordB20A
03-23-2009, 09:08 PM
the coupe is now manual and has a clutch pedal etc etc etc its all swapepd and not the fucking motor doesnt run, same symptons as before, error code 11 and a flat revlimit at 2k rpm, looks liek i have to swap the loom

AccordB20A
03-24-2009, 05:57 PM
Ok theres is something seriously fucked in this coupe i have no idea what it is
- Changed main relay, battery, fusebox, same problem
- changed engine, same problem
- changed ecu, same problem.
- changed fuel filter, same problem
- continuity tested every wire that goes to a sensor in the engine bay (checked out fine) and still had the same problem
- changed car wiring loom, same problem
- Changed Fuel Pump, same problem
- Changed fuel lines, same problem

its like this car has a curse on it, its had three motors now all three do the same thing, im stuck and i have to give up, theres really NOTHING more i can do

News with the civic, it now has no wiring loom as i took it to use in the coupe, but that failed so i guess ill be taking that loom back. its pretty stripped now, no dash etc etc

AccordB20A
03-24-2009, 11:36 PM
Yeah theres no such code as 11

why would three different engines on 3 different dizzys and 2 sets of leads do the same thing??

Hauntd ca3
03-25-2009, 12:11 AM
possibly a clogged fuel filter not allowing enuf fuel thru, that can sound similar to ign break down.

03-25-2009, 12:23 AM
MAP sensor maybe? i know when the MAP sensor's not hooked up it sounds like dick under load, and when revved. especially with MAF sensors too...but i may have over looked this replacement...so void this post if so.

AccordB20A
03-25-2009, 12:30 AM
fuel filters mint theres heaps of fuel pressure etc and flow getting to the fuel rail, return line works good, I think im going to put the coupes engine into the hatch and hook it up and see what happens lol

03-25-2009, 12:32 AM

Doesnt look worth the trouble. that shit is BEAT. Im sure there HAS to be some EG hatch for cheap better shape than that. You didnt scam him, he scammed YOU.

All the coupes are built in US. Even JDM coupes. All vins begins with 1HGEJ1(EX) or EJ2(DX) same with EK coupes. And also unmentioned are EJ7, which are HX's. All JDM 96-00 coupes were EJ7's also.

AccordB20A
03-27-2009, 08:39 PM
Fixed the coupe today, the problem was the catalic converter was like 99% blocked, no wonder it wouldnt rev!! so thats all going fine

The civic isnt too bad only looks it in the pics, 2 nre lights 2 guards a right front door and it will be minter

eg civic over here are worth heaps still even if they are de registered and crashed so im not going to get a better deal than this one

Joay
03-27-2009, 09:18 PM
A friend of mine had a 92 CX with a partially-collapsed right quarter and then got hit on the left badly enough to total the car. He got both sides pushed out with a bigass hydraulic thing, then bondoed the crap out of the left side. Looked fine, sold for almost twice what he paid for it.

It can be done. His was [edit] a lot worse than yours, mostly because both sides were smashed down to the rockers and the bad side screwed up the door jamb.

It looks like the door still closes fine, so it's probably not even that big of a job. Be careful if you're hammering it from the inside, though; we accidentally punched a hole in it. :D

AccordB20A

AccordB20A
03-28-2009, 10:47 PM
Did some rust work on the civic today, all i had was rust converter, a wire brush and por15, so i rust converted the bits with surface rust and por15'ed over them then painted over it. Theres a lot of other rust holes around that will need welding up too.

the motor in it is a vtec-E d15b mated to an auto box, i just realised the auto box has a fucked cable shifter so i cant use it, Im looking for either a b18a1/b or b20b or even a cheap b16a or something to just make the car move. my mate has a manual d series box as a last resort i can have but i need a clutch/flywheel before that can go on.

Should be sweet, ill bridge 2 channels for the sub and run the other 2 channels on the civic front speakers. its a 2 door so rear speakers will not be required.

good news guys, my mate justin got in a dark green EG civic that had the right hand side fender/bumper/bonnet stoved in. So im buying the manual engine chassis mount, left fender and right front door glass from it for $80! and probably anything else i need off it aswell (fuck all)

I really need to do some work on this car, like put the interior back together as its still all over the place. Then ill update with some pics.

So....an Accord wheel goes right on an EG spline with no issues???

I will have to do this then. 3G wheel is my favorite wheel from a USDM Honda, other than a EP3 red stitch with a S2K airbag hybrid, which I plan for the Lude.

might have to do some improvising there then. its just the civic came with a rice wheel that my mate took so it doesnt have one, but thats okay if i have to find a non airbag stock EG one its all good, actually the parts car at my wrecker mates yard has one i may scam it if the leather wrapped accord one fails.

have not updated this for a while, since the last post i bought a b series box from pick a part for $103NZ, cut the front off another civic to weld onto mine for $30. Today i have installed the new box into the car so its all bolted up, i did get pics ill post them later as i am on dial up still. i bought some brake fluid and gasket maker today so i can make me a intake gasket and bleed the clutch, then all i got to do is stick in the axles and hook up the shifter and see what happens :)

last night i went out there and installed the clutch lines and put the intake back on the motor, it still idles at 5000rpm, so i took the intake off again only to see bits of old gasket around the studs, so i removed that slapped it back on with some gasket sealer and called it a night, Tomorrow i will go at it again to see if i can try get it driving, the other day i also scammed a car alarm from an integra for it. its a uniden the same as my car has. just another thing that iu dint have to buy for it. This weekend i went to pick a part, Found a B18B Powered domani (different looking eg type sedan) and i took its accelerator cable, radiator and hoses engine loom and a p54 ecu which seems to be factory chipped :-S )

I also got a dc steering wheel for it so it will look standard. now i need time to make it work. the reason i got the engine loom is cause its currently OBD2 and i want it to be OBD1 for tuning purposes.

I also got the b18b dizzy so if anyone with a b20a swap wants to go OBD1 i can sell you it

this will be my little race car haha

it will be receiving a vtec head at some stage and maybe after that a turbo will be bolted to it. should be a fun little car then, providing i can fund it. turbo/tuning aint cheap on a b series

did some work on it a week or so ago, waterblasted the engine bay and tidied up all those wires. still more wiring to fix tho, the headlights and shit wiring is still tied up by the firewall haha got to run it down the guards into the lights. Then i have to swap rear drums onto it cause the calipers i have on the rear disks are fucked and i cbf fixing them so drums will do for now, ill install the shocks when i do that, hope it sits lower.

did some more work on the civic today, Because the door cards i have are for manual window winders and my doors have electric winders so i modded the door cards to take accord rear door window winder switches, Now i have windows that go up and down meeaann, pics later. Other things i did today were:

-install and plug in foglight loom, now to install some accord fogs on it :D
-fix dash light dimmer so the dash lit up
-Replace bulbs in the gauge cluster so the other half of it can be seen
-fix a ground for the stereo, and wire up the boost gauge that came with the car, haha
-install and plug in sidemarkers in the guards

oh and i hooked up the flashing LED for my alarm haha, i need to buy a battery for this car too im sick of stealing the CRX's one

more progress, hooked up a leadlight and worked on the car in the dark,

- hooked up the windscreen wiper motor wires
- put the wiper arms on
- put the new stereo in the hole, ill post some pics of the radio at some stage
- bought a second hand but good battery for it yesterday for $20 so i installed it

then i went for a drive with my gf, 120kms of winding road there and back all done on $20 gas, good milage ftw, half way there i noted my front wheel nuts were lose and there was only two of them, lucky i had a wheel brace in the boot, i went around the whole car, the rest are sweet.

Just a few known issues to sort
- Heater doesnt have a hot/cold knob and that got anoying
- clutch fork bearing is noisey as fuck when foot is on the clutch
- brake dust guard on the LF wheel scrapes hardout for some silly reason
- exhaust rubbers missing from rear muffler make it drag on the road when cornering excessively

and the worcest problem is the fucking fuel tank, it says i has 1/4 a tank yet it fuel surges, i have sorted a dc2 integra efi tank ill try for size and buy it if it fits, anyone know if it will fit??

AccordB20A
05-17-2010, 10:34 PM

all the engine bay wiring is tidied up. Since this car is now running a DC2 integra fuel tank i had to extend and re route the fuel tank sender wires as the integra tank has it in a different spot. so i did that and put the rear seat in properly, I stole a windscreen squirter nozzle from the old CRX bonnet too as the civic was missing one and they will fail the warrant of fitness on that. I also added a couple of exhaust rubbers that were missing, no wonder the rear muffler would rub on the right rear wheel when cornering haha

well this car keeps overheating over time, i found out the radiator cap was totally fucked so it purged all its water out the overflow. so i spent $7 and got a brand new one, stuck it on and now i find out the car STILL overheats. water now leaks out of between the intake manifold and the head as b series motors have a water line that goes on there, So now i have to spend some money and replace the intake manifold gasket, YAY

A18A
09-02-2010, 01:17 AM

right stuck the b18b gasket on and it is mint, even the engine idles normal now no more silly fluctuating idle, also the coolant doesnt leak from there anymore... now it leaks from the heater hose where it connects to the heater core. and also the iacv piping is too short and leaks also. man fixing the heater hose is going to be a cunt

right, more mods for the civic, today i removed my EF CRX GAB shocks and replaced them, i decided to sell my eg lowering springs, i replaced my suspension with koni yellows.

Since i have a pair of bilsteins for the front of my CA accord i decided to put my CA front Koni shocks into the front of the civic, I used the EF civic shock forks and they fitted mint. they are almost 50mm shorter in the body than stock eg shocks, so instead of using a lowered spring on them i chose the factory (i think) springs EF crx springs. it sacked the front down real nice, fuck all of a guard gap now with my 17s. for the rear i used the eg koni yellows i got, i set them to their lowers circlip level and once again used a stock EF spring, After all that it sits nice and low, and even, ill get some pics in the daylight but heres a good before and after...

right i have experienced fail with my civic gearbox, it drove sweet for 1000kms after i stuck it in but it started making noises and the other day it felt like the clutch wasnt disengaging it was hard to get into and out of gear and the engine would nearly stall when you let the clutch out in neutral. also when coating to a stop it felt like the brakes were on. So today i pulled the gearbox again and pulled it apart.
