well b4 when my timing was fucked up, i could go 50mph at 5500RPM, but ever since i fixed it, i can go but to 60-65 mph at 6000-6200 RPM:thumbup:

well the thing is my timing belt snapped on me while driving and it felt the same after i replaced it but do u think the belt snapping fucked something up in my engine like a bent vavle or something like that

well that's ur first problem, you paid someone do for you. i used to do that until my old mechanic fucked up the wiring in my old 89 toyota cressida and cause it to catch on fire:chainsaw: since then, i have done every thing myself and i have not did a single major error:thumbup:

yea thanks and also i know this makes a difference but i have 175/70R13 and stock tires are 185/70r13 right and as im driving normally im 5 miles off so that would make a difference as well right

well guys i just checked my timing and its fine but just to make sure is the flywheel mark supposed to be on the little cross or plus symbol or is it supposed to be on the 15 mark

Off by 5 miles? Thats quite a bit for such a small tire size difference.

And timing is suppose to be on the T.

sounds like a problem.

yea i was driving next to this one newer civic with a digi dash and looked at its speed and mine as well and saw mine was lower by 5 and i guess theres notin wrong with my timing so wat u guys think could make me hit the 55 or 60 mile mark in second gear but no upgrades cause im flat broke right now and do u guys think its worth it to port out an intake manifold for about 30 bucks

'A20A3'

thats a good price

and power wise?

'A20A3'
04-01-2009, 04:42 PM
a few horsies i'd bet, definitely a smoother powerband.

i'm getting ready to put a LS manifold on mine, to get rid of the secondary butterflies. plus i get a slightly bigger throttle body.

^^ wut throttle body? I was looking to use a legond, or a vigor's tb....

I just don't see how your RPM's can be up so high but speed be so low.

yea i dont fuckin get it either i mean i just tested it this morning and only got to 45 its so gay
about the throttle bodies is it true that a TB from an old school tegra years 88 or 89 would just bolt onto my stock manifold for my a20a3?

I have a strange feeling your clutch is slipping pretty bad.

no. i doubt it.

im swapping a entire manifold as well. to eliminate the butterfly setup the stock one has.

^^^you might wanna check that tho danny. whats the car feel like?

just because the clutch grabs at low speed doesn't mean it's adjusted right and isn't slipping at high speed. you need to go to the basics, fuel pressure, timing, cam timing, compression, ignition. the basics. chances are you will find the problem. didn't you say a timing belt was just installed? it''s very easy for someone not used to these old cars to time it wrong. maby it was timed to the other mark on the flywheel,it's very possible. if cam timing is off,you might have plenty of power at low rpms, but none at high rpms.

'A20A3'
04-01-2009, 07:30 PM
^^if the cam is advanced then yes it will do exactly that

i just checked it right now and the fly wheel is alligned with the cam gear
ima probably sound like a noob but is the cam gear the part that the timing belt connects to right next to the vavle cover?
and my car feels fine just rough idle but how would i adjust it so it wouldnt do that now more and also i dont really have lots of power at low rpms between 2nd gear and 5th gear is that also a prob?

My timing is advanced a tooth and still pulls.

Might be ignition timing. Adjust the distributer while its running
