Its not really the issue with the pistons its more of an issue with the valve springs being to weak at those rpm's. This is why people who plan to rev high upgrade the valve train to prevent damage. The A20's are really strong motors if you take care of it and don't be stupid when revving it. I usually never go over 6k rpm's.

i revved mine to 7200 before i had the springs. in 1st and 2nd a few times(wasnt paying full attention to the rpms lol) but it was terrifying when i was up there. U can feel a powerband loss at 6800ish anyways. Whenever i was trying to get somewhere really fast, i'd shift at 6800, but normally at 6200-6500.

true that, i only hit 6200 if im really pounding her, but the only reason i mentioned pistons is because my buddy has/had a 98 prelude with a h22 racing motor and snapped a rod revving wayyy too high at every shift.

He laughs at my car because its old, i laugh at his car because mine still runs damn good :D

Mine hits 8k rpm but thats with modded valve springs and fully bluw printed engine, it can go higher but needs a better exhaust manifold and system first, mate of mine over revved mine my mistake once hit 10k rpm roughly and engine still survived with my setup so they can take the revs but for how long who knows! After 30k miles mine decided the rod bolts wanted to come off so if you do like high revs make sure you tighten them up a little higher and use thread lock on them!
