Is engine from 86 LXi hatch compatible with 88 LXi coupe?

I found a pretty good deal on a 86 LXi hatch. It says new engine and clutch which I think they meant used from Japan. Its Fuel injected but I don't know what else it needs to be compatible. It has a 5 speed which I'd like to do the swap from auto to standard. Then I could start a re-build on a built block. The rest of the car I would part or junk. Body looks to be in good condition.

I think there are some ECU differences, but the engines themselves are nearly identical. Look at the engine identification stamp on the front of the engine next to the transmission right below the distributor. They should both say A20A3 or something like that.

yeah they are i think just the intake manifold and exhaust manifold are the only real diferences
