Turn down the gain, maybe?
Is it 1000w RMS or peak? If it's rated for 1000, it should be peaking at no more than 1000.

lol an amp that actually put out more then 1000watts rms would be quit expensive

are you talking the inline fuse on the power wire or the one on the amp its self

also a fuse size and amp model number would be sweet info to have

are your subs wired correctly. Make sure they have an Ohm level the amp can support. This would cause you to blow fuses.

it has to be 1000w max amplifier as a 1000w rms amp would have some meaty fuses, mine has a couple of fuses (80 amps) and its factory rated around 1000w rms into 4 ohm

Well yeah a 1000-watt RMS amp would be a real motherfucker, but it seems weird to put out far more than its rated peak as op describes.

hmm.. this amp only requires 40watt fuse.. and its the fuse thats on the outside of the amp.. like you plug into the side of the amp..

lol yes my sub is wired correctly..

Ok so the amplifer works right? like it makes sound until you crank it up too loud then fails? Does it blow the fuses under extreme load, also does the amp get quite hot from doing no work?

lol yes my sub is wired correctly..

what kind of sub and how is it wired is it a dual voice coil
is it bridged on the amp

its a audiobahn 12 dont know the model, and its just hooked to the negitive and positive on the amp, and just ran striaght to the negitive and positive on the sub

Maybe it wants a bigger fuse, how loud can it go before it blows? loud enough to hurt your ears?

Also can you possibly supply me with the model of the amplifier

40A fuse you mean? Is that stock size? Sounds awfully small to me.

Model of the amplifier would help here.

yeah 40a.. but the model is kenwood kac 7252

40a sounds stock, its not that powerful of an amp but it is 2 ohm stable.
- 1,000 Watts max power
- 170 Watts x 2 (4 ohms) RMS
- 250 Watts x 2 (2 ohms) RMS
- 40A Fuse

it says its biridgeable but it doesnt say what its bridged power output is on the page i looked at, Maybe around 250w rms bridged, but that should by no means blow a 40A fuse

yeah..there is like a shortage maybe? idk.. i went through a box of fuses in two days.. :(

Make sure your amp's ground is good.

If you're bridging the amp your sub needs to be no less than 4ohms.

try another sub, if you dont know the model it may be a 2 ohm sub and in bridge mode that will cut out at higher volume, and maybe blow your fuse, try another known 4 ohm or even 8 ohm sub. If you can get another sub try it on one chanel

ground is good.. and i belive the sub i have in it now is 4ohms, cause when my brother bought the amp, he had it set up for the sub im running now.. ( which is his old system..)

and ive had 4 diff subs.. :( i think i will just stop being cheap and buy a new amp.. and call it a day..lol

when your amp blows the fuse is the heat sink hot?
what size power wire are you running?

the amp is warm, but nothing other than normal running temp.

uhh not sure the size, but its a fat one from the battery to the amp, it came in my kenwood 1000w wire kit..

I;d say your amp is either screwed or possibly not being bridged properly, or it just doesnt like being bridged.

ghettogeddy
04-12-2009, 01:52 PM
ya try taking the bridge off and just running it on a single channel

ya, my uncle he deals with stuff liek that and i sent him the amp, and he said it was toast.. but idk..
