Okay tried to adjust timing couldn't get it anyhere near the 15 degrees +/- 2 degrees.

When I removed the old timing belt I didn't move the the crank at all except to find the timing mark. Maybe I didn't move it far enough, so I'm going after it today.

My question: Is the white mark above or below the 15 degree mark?

Its an after market flywheel (Autozone) And I really cannot remember the mark anywhere on the flywheel. But it has to be there right.

Confirmed the timing mark is above the 15 degree mark. So I'm off acouple of teeth. This makes the rattle a timing mark issue.

Next question: Should I be concerned about the valves hitting the pistons. Did we ever determine if these engines were non interference.

I would have expected the engine to have immediate problems at start up and road testing. None noted except the "Rattle"

What do you guys think?

Since the car runs I doubt you're off by a lot. I would get it right though.

As we speak. I can't beleive I pulled such a noob mistake. I've done the timing belt on this thing 3 times.

Go ahead: "Flame away" I deserve this one. Have fun!

Road test tomorrow, will update. I'd expect it to be gone since thats seems to be the mistake made.
