well i have checked everything from timing marks to all the vacuum line (no leak), i have used carb cleaner to see if it would help but it only droped a little. its drop after it warms up but its still at 2k-2.5k at normal operating temp. the car will still run if i un-tighten the idle screw all the way. so if some can plz help me out, i would really love it (no homo:lol:)

You probably have something wrong with the high idle vacuum controls. Check out the manual. They have a whole set of diagnostics to run on the carb. Or you could just get a Weber.

i would love to get a weber carb but would it interfere with the emission test? and how much do they run?

the weber is amazing, but yes it will interfere with emissions. my 38/38 cost about 450 or so for the whole kit.

Your linkage is stuck on high idle.

Your linkage is stuck on high idle.

well which linkage is stuck at high idle and do you know the proper way to fix it?

There is a plate near the throttle plate with 3 notches. It is controlled by the choke. So one of those linkages it stuck thus the plate does not drop down a notch to lower the idle.

Its the throttle stop screw. Its what you adjust the idle with when its at operating temps. I usually drive the car for about 45 minutes before I do a final adjustment on it. I also have all the lights on and so on when I do it so I can get it really close to 750rpms.
