I was loading all my old pictures on my new computer and came accross a few that i figured i would post to perhaps motivate me to rebuild. As it stands my coupe runs a stock B20A and my turbo block is awaiting a rebuild.

Most are obviously old with the exception of the block with the Edelbrock Victor X manifold that is current as i cleaned it up and in the process of prepping a valve cover for a breather setup. My chassis is in rough shape rust wise from being exposed to the New England elements so i have plans to build a chassis up from scratch. I am planning on getting a chassis from a dry climate that is rust free when finances allow. I do have a stock pile of parts to go into the new project along with all my old stuff.

As of right now i am trying to get the B20A turbo charged again and realistically i should be able to do it fairly cheap. I need piston, bearings, turbo (or rebuild), and a EMS. I could probably do this for under $2000 if i keep a tight budget. Im leaning on using a cheaper EMS such as hondata or similar rather than the AEM EMS simply because of tuning. Im not set on this because i did like the AEM a lot but its complex and my tuner is to far for my liking.

Ideally i would like to be around 300-350whp which i beleive at 17psi i was pushing pretty close to the 300whp mark. Once its up and running without any bugs i plan to begin a full chassis build which is without question going to take time.

You have the sickest, the nastiest, the meanest 3G I have ever seen; I’m in complete shock and awe. My hat is off to you. I wish I could see it in person...

Thanks for the pics Rob!

You and your 3g were one of the cars that really inspired me to want a 3g and want to mod it. I still remember photoshopping my first 3g with RH C2's after seing yours. Would love to get my hands on some c2's one day for the hell of it.

I also have a ton of other 3geez pictures that i have picked up over the years that i will put up soon when i get a second. I figured i would share them since over the years some have been lost from the transition to new forums.

Thanks for the comments i can't wait to get it going again as it has been years in the making.

Glad to hear this project is still going . Haven't heard from you in a while Rob. Seems like the best builds are very time consuming. Might wanna check with some Florida members to get that nice rust free chassis

I think the pod was from a 88-91 CRX. And roodoo2 i have not driven a A20A3 in years so its hard to say what stock feels like the B20A stock definately hands down has more torque. When i took it in for emmissions testing the kid was surprised himself for a stock honda plant. I have just been hanging back buying stuff that i could not pass up but overall the past few years i have been paying down all my debt. My car has been on hold mainly due to loss of income because i use to work 4 ten hour shifts with the option for overtime on fridays which i did often. Then moved companies and this year has proved tough and dropped to 32 hour work weeks to being laid off. But i should have my electrical licence very soon and when things pick up i should be in good shape.

Yeah, Steve we need to meet up perhaps head down to Marks and help him push his project along. I would also like to head to the track again i never seem to go as much as i want and the weather is finally breaking!

Yeah i have been laid off and im on week 2 now so last week i pulled out all of my parts bins to see what i need to finish it up. I plan to order the pistons within the next month then get the block to the machinist. This way i can spend my free time cleaning/assembling everything again. I also need to have a new manifold made which i set up my spare block to use for mock up.

I will post some of the good pictures that i have from over the years of everyone's cars.

Talk about teasing your car is 99% done im about 20% LOL.

ok so is it going to be done for theBIG east coast meet?

RobT5580

I plan on attending for sure but it will be a tough deadline at this point. I doubtfully would drive my chassis i have not but i am actively looking for one and found a decent one down south but money is tight. I currently am having a traction bar made which will require a transmission mount of some sort since it uses a front stabilizer. But i want a tranny mount as my B20A moves way to much. I have brand new wiseco pistons sitting next to me i am working out the machine shop details to get that going. I figure atleast $2500 to get the B20A turbo again. That is my priority is to build up my motor and worst case it will get tuned in this chassis which i have no problem doing.

With that said work is getting pretty slow and layoff's are lurking so that might slow my progress. I am also potentially selling my 06 Legacy GT which would cut $650 or so a month off my bills since my honda is dirt for insurance and taxes.

I also got my wonderful girlfriend to buy me a Momo Race steering wheel for christmas. Now all i need is a car to put it on LOL. I have a lot of parts i have been stock piling for many years so one day it will all come together.

We shall see what the next four months bring i have been working day and night paying everything off possible so i am close to being debt free other than my subaru and my student loans.

cool

you need to update that build thread you got then. lol

just remember, come March all the business are going to start getting hammered for more parts/services and things get backed up so plan accordingly. ;)

Yeah i was suppose to meet a shop today as it was their late night but i was stuck at work. On the flip side i was not on the schedule for work tomorrow so who knows i might have more time than i need minus the cash flow. For some reason i was thinking my block would be around $600 to machine and prep but from my research i think its going to be over $1k but i have some money stashed for this.

guaynabo89
01-18-2010, 06:21 PM
Back in the day (2002 I think) for a complete block rebuild even with me supplying the parts cost me about 850. That included all assembly and machining of course, along with micro polising, shotpeening, and balancing the rotating assembly.

I imagine the rates have gone up in the past 8 years.

RobT5580
01-19-2010, 04:01 PM
Yeah i think my last build was $1300 but i was thinking about just boring out the block but i might as well let them assemble the rods, pistons, and crank. I am going to get a price in the next week or so.

But on the flip side i was laid off today but i should be able to manage.

Man another lay off. Sorry dude. on the flip side Im still not working. off almost a year now. What happened to our trade. from all the work in the world to nothing spread out over many. Oh well, at least you still goals to finish your project. Mine are just going to sit around till they finish themselves one day.

RobT5580
01-20-2010, 06:17 PM
Its ok i should be able to manage well my company is/has been great to work for and definitely avoids layoffs until its to the point to where they loose money. I can't complain i was only off 6 weeks in 2009 which seemed slower so no worries. And i took it voluntarily because it was either that or loose hours/days and take it without pay and the work load could not keep all of us working 40 hours. I expect this spring should bring work to the trades so hopefully you get back to work (Mike). I know the electrical trade has been slow and many are out of work which is common through most trades as the building market is dead.

I have been planning a transition to partner up with my brother who is on his 3rd year of business. But i needed my E2 license which i got last may and for obvious economic reasons i have been riding out the slow times.

I will start a new thread when the block is finished and start the long re-build.
