what are the differences between the A20A1 and the A20A2 engines? i know there is also A20A3(and4) are these both for efi only or can they be used with carbs as well? trying to find good information so i can decide what engine i should buy when i save up enough for a swap..

will the trani and cv axles be interchangeable with each engine?

They are the same except for that the A20A2 doesnt have emissions stuff.

EFI components and Carb componenets can be interchanged, transmissions, axles etc work too.

A20A1 and A20A3 are the low emissions versions.
A20A2 and A20A4 are the "high" emissions versions.

As far as I'm aware, the only difference between the A1 and A2, and A3 and A4 is the lack of emissions equipment, such as PCV and EGR stuff on the 2 and 4

so is there any power increase with the different engines?

the power specs are the same on each engine. Do you want to swap engines or something.

only difference in HP is between A3 and A4, A4 had higher compression and no EGR, that made A4 122Hp against 118Hp in A3

Ouh I forgot, A4 that came between 86-87 in europe had no CAT, that made them 125Hp, while on paper they said 122 still.

the biggest difference between a a20a1 & a20a2 is all the room in the engine bay :)

a20a2 + advanced camshaft + mechanical secondary mod on carb = grunt.
