Please I need some help before I drvie this accord off a cliff into a deep deep lake somewhere.
Ok.
When I bought this car it idled way to high the woman I bought it from said it had an intake gasket leak. But I got car to idle down without replace intake gasket. But it wouldnt idle when you started it cold.Once it warmed up it would idle at about 2000 rpm way to high but better than it was at like 3500 rpm.I sprayed carb cleaner all around intake an carb base didnt find any leaks.
So I replaced carb with three different ones I finally got one that the choke unloader worked right on.But it will not idle down where its suppose to it wont idle at all when its cold started.Once it warms up it was idling at about 1500 rpm but today all of a sudden it wont idle at all. When you let off gas pedal it drops straight down to 0 an dies. Please please help me if you can I really like this car Ive fixed all its little problems but this one.And it is driving me batty everytime I stop at a light I have to mash in clutch, hit brake an keep it reving all at the same time. Also if I turn idle stop screw I can get it to hold fairly constant at 2000 rpms but if I try to go below that it starts getting erratic an eventually will die.

try by passing your thermo vacuum control valves, making sure you are gettng a consistent idle before you finish. Then drive it to eliminate those as being the culprit, then one at at time to see which one is so.
There are vacuum associated controls outside the carb that cause these problems.
choke and fast idle unloader are separate,

then my fav choice, get a weber conversion..

or if ya cant afford the weber, id def go with the black box delete until then... all it costs is about 5 dollars in vac plugs.

Make sure your idle mixture solenoid is connected and functioning. It will cause exactly this.

Stop sucking. Go buy a $20 "fix it" book that tells you where all these parts are. I can find the idle mixture solenoid on either of my vehicles in about 4 seconds. It doesn't make sense to sell a car because of a loose wire or disconnected hose. None of this shit is hard to do, you just need to go and look for it. Your engine bay is about 2.5 by 3 feet, your problem is in there somewhere.

Now fix it!!

x2.
The problem you have is really easy to fix. Grab carb cleaner and spray after you attempt to locate the area the leak is in. spend about 8 dollars on tubing and replace everything if you need to (really easy way for quitters). Just spend a few bucks and replace everything for a few dollars.

I dont know my lxi has the same amount of miles as my dx.Maybe I got lucky but the idling has never faltered on it.(knock on wood). But I have the manual as well as buying 2 chiltons and a haynes an they tell you how to check a couple of things but I thinks theyre knida vauge.Or im a lil on the dumb side probaly both. But I think ill just get rid of it while I can.If I can figure it out ill keep it but I need something that want aggravate me to the point of tearing it up.Because I want to tear down my lxi an rebuild it.I m going to check a few things on it and see if they are the problem or not.I put it on craiglist the last nite an I got a few replys already some1 offered me 500.00:rocket:But I want at least 800 out of it that will cover everyting I already done to it.

Ok I am in my happy place once again went out an look at the fuel mixture soleoid that Guyhatesmycar suggested.I followed the wire down under intake to where it had a connecter an there was the problem the wire was broken in two.Found the other end peeled back the wire twisted it together an taped it up.Readjusted idling an tadaa works like new.Now I dont think I am going to sell it.If so I will have to ask for more now cause there is nothing wrong with whole car except sometimes it jumps out of fith gear an grinds a lil. bit going into 3rd.But I am just tickled pink that it idles once more. Woooooooo Hooo

Make sure your gearbox is filled with oil. Sounds like 5th gear is going to die. Making sure the oil isn't low might be your savior to keeping it from going sooner.

now arent ya glad ya didnt sell a great car for hella cheap just cuz of a freebie-fix that ya didnt wanna wess with!?
just a tip regarding the trans, i read somewhere on here that when ya refill the trans, if ya lift the passenger side of the car when filling, you can put a lil bit more in it. that might help a bit. but i highly recommend that you use the 'HONDA' manual trans fluid. it will prolly cost around 10 bux for each bottle. but ya only need to buy 3 prolly. and ya gotta buy it from the dealer...
