How bad would it be trying to change it out on a 89 LX-i? And around how much would I have to pay for it?

when you say pay for it, do you mean you want a shop to do it or are you talking about parts alone.

Parts probably...how hard is it? If it's a huge struggle I will just wait until my next car but I'm reeeaaally digging a 5 speed...bad...I have yet to find a shop around here anyways

if you have mechanical know how and tools you'll be able to get it done in a day or two.
