Hey folks

I had a problem with my headlight buckets beaing rusted a bit.

I tried to sandblast them but it turned out I had one that was rusted through.

I decided to buy new parts instead.

It turns out that Honda used different parts to mount our headlights depending on... whatever they thought was adequate.

The buckets I received used a different mounting hardware and different adjusting screws.

My holder ring (the chrome thing that secures the sealed beam) used long screws that were driven through a plastic thing.

The new parts I received use smaller screws that go directly in the bucket (no plastic holder here)

Here's what I'm talking about:

Number 3,10,17 and 4 are the OEM plastic things I had on my buckets.

The problem is that Honda doesn't list them anymore, only the other model is available (without those plastic things).

The problem I'm facing is that the adjusting screws for the other bucket model are a bit loose. They allow a tiny bit of movement that's annoying when going over bumpy roads.

I'll take an actual picture of both models.
So, anyone is having a similar problem????

While browsing the Yahoo auctions, I noticed that the JDM/Euro Accords had a different headlight adjusting screw. That screw uses a small spring to prevent movement (awesome)

I also noticed that they use a different mounting method. Instead of a metal stamped bucket with a chrome ring, it's one bucket with holding brackets.

The brackets hold the housing from the back and that's about it.

These seems to be made specifically for the H4 conversions (woot). Anyone from JDMLand can confirm this?

(notice the mounting spring)

I've sorta noticed a similar thing with the headlight buckets. Have you noticed the mounting tabs are different too? theres two sets of holes, and some buckets are made to use one set, and some buckets are made to use the other. Structurally ive noticed no other differences though.

Well, all I want is to get rid of the vibrations. I'll see what I can do.

What bulbs do USDM ones use? Fixed headlight models use H4, I suppose aerodecks would use them too. Thegreatdane would probably know about this.

^^Their bulbs are not replaceable. They have to replace the entire headlight housing. Thats why theyre called sealed beam headlights.

Yep all the EDM accords are like the second diagram you posted. Very easy to adjust and replace the headlight.
And we had H4 housings from the factory, not those weird sealed beam housings. Never seen sealed beam housings on any car in europe.

I may have something in spare from my spareparts aerodeck if you like? Those retaining springs tends to rust a lot though, so they might need to get replaced if you dont like rusty pats. I've bought new headlight springs for my own aerodeck.

Marthin, can we get any pics of the front of your headlights? I want to see how different it looks from the front with the lights popped.

Havent got any myself at the moment I'm affraid, best I could find was this one: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/3693/frontoze.jpg

There's not really any difference to notice from what I can tell since all the plastics are the same.
