Alright dammit, in light of that hugely successful Portland Meet, it's time we get the east coast to put on our rally caps and make a meet worthy of the 1st Annual CT/NewEngland meet of '02 (I think it was '02) where we had a BBQ at a park and had, what 10 cars show up? We followed those up with some sweet ass meets for the next few years between NJ (e-town raceway) and CT, but then something happened. We all grew up a little and fell out of contact.

So peel your asses off the couch, and go dust off and wash & wax your 3G, turn wrenches, break out the torch, visit the DMV, just do whatever it takes to get it on the road. It's time to get that car back out to play at least for a day.

Here's the proposition:

When: August 15th and/or 16th
Where: tbd, but most likely central CT. Rocky Hill / Hartford (surrounding towns) area. Depending on the volume of cars showing up, I may opt for the OCC Choppers location in NY, or maybe Englishtown, NJ.
What: FLIPPED. This means any Honda with flip lights. (3GEEZ, 2nd and 3rd Gen Ludes, 1st Gen Teggys)

I MIGHT exclude the 3G ludes only because of the sheer amount of them still around, but then again, I'm thinking the more the merrier. There may be a minimal admission charge depending on where we go, and what we decide to do. A BBQ can get expensive for 30+ people if so many show up.

It'll be at a local park with permission granted from the park owner, and may include a short caravan to a secondary location for dyno day, indoor karting, outdoor karting, or even just another good photo-op for the cars.

So, we'll start with this thread to finalize the date, place and venue. Once everything is finalized and set in stone, we'll get an Official thread going for participation.

Would be great to see you come down and grace us with your expertise and maybe work some magic on rob's b20 :)

also, I am coming up to Montreal July2nd-6th. If you are around maybe we can meet up?

You know what? I want PICS from that meet!!! :D

I am going to post pics from all the big meets I have. CT used to have the biggest meets. I think as Mark stated we have all kind of grown apart a bit. Back when I joined this site I would have never thought I would make some life long friends through the internet. I have met a fair amount of members in the NE, but Rob and Mark will always be close friends to me. great guys who are always to willing to help out when possible. ok enough of my lovefest haha

I just realized this would require you have a running 3g and no, you can not purchase one for peanuts and drive it there that day.

This is James you're talking to. You don't remember the Laurel blue hatch with Kaminari bumper and Krylon Fuzion electric blue moldings and 'accents'. He's the king of not-so-matching accents. Brightly colored non-matching 3-ring binders with black duct tape FTMFW!

I'm down for a meet not sure if the accord will make it but i will come. I do miss the old meets as my car was in far better condition but i am in the market for a new chassis as i am still stocking up on parts i need. If the B20A is still in the car and the meet is local i will bring it as it might be the last year this coupe is kept whole depending on what i do.

It IS local and your car IS coming. It's still way cleaner than most others, it's just not up to your standards, which are very high and I respect that fully.

Yeah man, I had at least 3 people travel that far. Messy came up from SanFran, which was about 10-12 hours. Bitesize and Turabaka from Boise, ID, and 87Roach and his buddy from Kelowna BC. Also 8 hour drives at least.

Well, I'm guilty of the same offence then. I bought a brand new full exhaust for an SE-i. :D

I talked to my girl about this and she says we'd have to come down there... (Actually, she wants to go to south Jersey)

Oh damn. I could actually make this. 950 miles, that's only like 16 hours. Just doable in a day. Now if you could get Rich from the UK to show up, that would be the meet to end all meets.
If I had a calendar I would put it on there.

from the e-town website

August 15th, 2009
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM 7th Annual HONDA/ACURA DAY.
Race & Show classes for all Hondas & Acuras. Honda & Acura Brands Only. Autocross. Street Muffled Vehicles Only.

this may work out better. more central location and maybe Mark should do the Honda Challenge

hmm... this almost sounds do-able. What's with the Honda Challenge? I might consider the auto-x, but it's all dependent on if I can get the car registered (which means pass emissions), and I can find a spare set of driving tires because I'm def not driving down on my R-compounds. I'll drive them to a local meet, but not 2 hours on them where I can potentially run into rain which would be hazardous.

it usually consists of both autox and drag and they take the total time to determine the winners. I also believe that you can only use certain tires meaning you can't swap tires between events.

for all I know they may have eliminated that competition all together and will just do autox, drags, and show. not sure...

would like to get all the 3geez together on the 16th too if that would be possible

I am in Oxford, which is southeast.

And I had a blast today. However, the front left tire sidewall is now gone. The course was setup that I would enter the left hand turns very fast where as the right turns I would not. I had the tires to 45psi and it was better but need tires if I want to autocross again.

Here is the right side.

And now the left.

You need my tires. I have had a set of Kumho VictoRacer V700-R's sitting in my garage for years now just begging to go sling molten rubber all over the inside of the wheel wells of an auto-x'er. Hi, i am carotman's gf. I have a hard time speaking and writing in english but i will do my best :)

We were not supposed to go on a journey this year, but because we're comming down for the meet we have decided to come down to Wildwood beach for 2 or 3 days and then stop at the meet on the way back to our house. E-town it's just perfect for us, it's on our way.

yeah, no kidding. I recruited another friend of mine that use to build and race motorcycles. Although it's not the same, the principles are still there, so this weekend hopefully I'll make more progress. The deadline is fast approaching, and my time is getting less and less along with my bank account I setup for this project. Tick tick tick.

Oh James, good point. ...but I guess now that it's confirmed, I'll get an 'Official 3G EastCoast Meet' thread started. I guess the idea of a 'flipped' meet is a bit off now that we're already having it at a place where there'll be only honda's. So, a 3G's (and 2G 'Ludes ...CHRIS...) meet it is.

he WANTS to bring his car cause no one has seen it since it was steve's, and because it's been sitting over a year with no engine. it WILL be ready, even if we lose sleep over it. since it was wrecked and deemed totalled, naggz has put over $2500 into it, and thats what he paid for it.

So, we're going to that Honda day or just attending our own meet + BBQ?

See that's where I'm on the fence. The only reason I was suggesting a meet in CT was because I'd be able to get my grill to the park, or just use one at the park (if the one of choice had one), and we could do the BBQ thing and just bullshit all day.

...but if we do the Hondaday thing, I'm guessing we can just all meet down there, park together, get our photo_ops and some of us can play in some of the events. idk. I wouldn't mind doing both honestly, but I don't know how possible that is.

I would also love to auto-x my car while I'm down there, but I'm scared to death of breaking something and having to pay many hundreds of $$ getting it towed home.

BBQ and bullshit sounds fun.
There's no way I would put my car on the track 500 miles from home. Plus doing our own thing is what we've been used to in the Honda community. :D

I don't know what this Honda day looks like but these events are prone to cars being broken into and vandalism in parking lots. I know we have 3rd gens but still...

This is what we do...Make sure everyone pays for parking in the pits. We park with Johnny and his beast, we bring a grill, food, drinks, tent etc. People can particpate in any events they wish, but we have a "base camp" in the pits for 3geez.

It does cost more to park in the pits, BUT the car will be with the group and not in the parking lot were some of the crooks hide.

Mark...TRIPLE A! Saved my butt on a few occasions.

OR

maybe we rent a truck and trailor/dolley. we could tow one down and then the other back up. if one breaks...that goes on the trailor.

Someone pointed out this thread about the Honda Day in E-Town

http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2298895

I got there late last year and couldn't race or even join the show

Was willing to pay more for the racer/show ticket just to park in the pits instead of the parking lot so I could feel "safer" but wouldn't let us

Even tried to bribe the security guards at the gate to let us go to the pits instead of the parking lot telling them why and not feeling safe leaving it there

but they still refused and said "don't worry about the car...thats what we're here for"

so much for that LOL

luckily I stayed with my car the whole time and at least had one person watching it

a pepsi truck even got raided that day

one guy comes walking toward me with a case of diet pepsis saying "its christmas in the hood" LOL

That was in 2007 tough. The 2008 event seemed to have been better security wise.

With all of us paying the pit fees, we could have one hell of a bbq.

I guess it depends at what time we would go there.

russiankid

I am willing to pay extra for the pits if it comes down to that. If not, then we're going to have our own little BBQ.

I have been to Honda Day at etown for the last 3-4 years and if you get there early enough you can park in the pits, show or race. You can not show at 12or so and expect to race or to do that stuff as that around the time when the events get started.

Also, I have heard of some cars being broken into/stolen a in '06 or '07, but last year they had people at the gates stopping cars and checking ignitions to make sure they weren't broken.

If everyone parks in the pits we should be good to go, but I am in for whatever everyone else wants to do.

ok, so gp02a0083 can we task you with scoping out a good place for all of us to go and meet up after we depart e-town? It's important to call the park owner (most likely the local parks&rec dept of that town) and confirm it's ok to organize a small get-together (don't say it's a car club meet) for friends to meet up, grill some food, etc.

I just got a scary dose of reality last night when mentally reviewing the day's progress on the car, and figuring out what's left and the best way to tackle each item, and realized I have an out-of-state family vaca that starts this Saturday, and I won't be returning until the following Sunday. This means I lose the next two weekends, which only leaves me one remaining weekend to finish the car and get it running, passed through emissions, and registered. I have a knot in the pit of my stomach right now because all signs are pointing toward me not finishing this in time. ...but I will not give up, and will take advantage of every night I have to work on the car after the kids are asleep.

I would bring food with yah to the track, e-town's stands are a little bit pricey
really worse comes to worse there's a soccer field with a big lot down the street from my house, as long as we don't cause a commotion there its fine.

alright so far i scoped out one of the parks, Turkey swamp park its about 25 min-30 min from the track, few nice back roads to take and twisties near the park. road surface is dirt there , we'd also have to make reservations just to "camp" out and BBQ, i didnt know what people might think so i didn't pursue it further. there are a few local places in Howell , but im trying to find something closer to the track possibly something close to RT 9 so that everyone can get to 195 easily

ill check in tomorrow with what i find

markmdz89hatch
07-15-2009, 07:53 PM
nice, good news there. yeah I'd be interested in finding something where we didn't need to drive down dirt roads (unless they're hard packed without huge crowns in them) because a few of us (me included if I get the car ready in time) are riding pretty damn low. I don't mind the idea of a small 15-30 min drive to the park from the track so we can get some highway shots littered with 3G's. ...but you hit the nail on the head though, we need to be able to get back to the highway without much fear of getting lost when we leave.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting pretty damn excited to get this thing underway.

Oh Harvey --> Dude, if I gotta toss you some gas money to get you to show up, I'm ready and armed to do so. I gotta see what the hell you're doing with that funky paint thing you got going on.

gp02a0083

TS park is hard packed dirt , nuttin soft , few stones , hell my friend had his lowered FC there

195 is easy to get to , anyone who needs to get back on the highway you guys can follow me the Lakewood/freehold exit is 5 min from my house, Jackson has a lot of twisty roads , heck if it turns out that we'd have to pay mucho denaro for a park we can always bbq at my place and i got a soccer field down the street as i mentioned b4 for some pict's and if anyone wants to drink or needs to stay overnight everyone is more than welcome

Is anyone really overly opposed to a dirt or gravelpack lot to park the cars? ...I mean as long as it's a paved road to get there, but the lot is gravelpack, we shoudl be fine right? Steve, Rob, Louis, Travis and I all met up at a place that was gravelpack, and wasn't our Hammonasset meet on a gravelpack lot too?

Hell, in RockyHill (1st Annual) we all showed up and hung out on a paved lot, but some of the lower cars that showed ended up driving on the grass for some photo ops.

I'm all for not making this dude drive to east-bum-puck and back just to find us the perfect place. We just need to hang out and enjoy eachother's company and cars. ...and at a place that's no more than, lets say, a 30 min drive from e-town.

anyway u guys just wanna go with plan b ? well meet up at e-town then drive through some nice back roads and bbq at my house located bout 30-40 min from the track. We can also try the mansiquan like i said b4 nice photo ops there and its 5-10 min away from my house?

its up to you guys , i need some feed back before i finish mapping out roads to go on.

Alright so lets get the ball rolling. How many people do we have going to the Honda day AND then a little 3gee meet?

I know GP and myself can't afford to bring all the food supplies to have a nice BBQ. I am 18 years old, so I will not be drinking and or providing the beers if you guys wish to have them. However, here is a list of what I think would be needed for a good BBQ. I like to BBQ, so I will also bring some chicken wings that IMO are bangin'

Buns for hotdogs and burgers
Burger patties
Hot dogs
Cooler or two for drinks
Charcoal(maybe 2 bags depending on people) Lighter fluid falls into this category as well.
A grill if GP doesn't have one. I can bring my grill
Grill accessories
Ice(can be picked up later)
Condiments(ketchup,mustard,etc..)

maybe for the food stuff we can just donate money via paypal and then have 1 person get everything. Mark tends to forget hot dog buns haha

hey that fine , just want feedback to know what to pickup and who's bringing what.

i got a grill , its not a charcoal one , but its a decent size and can get the job done
i also have 2 coolers around here and i can get a 3rd for drinks and stuff
if anyone wants beer/alcohol it can be also picked up locally, there's 4 shops within 5 min, 2 on rt 9 and 2 in town. (if anyone does drink keys gotta be handed over, i have a few couches and aero beds if anyone needs to crash )
Ice can be picked up down the street at the local wawa.
Ill be supplying drinks, what do you guys like, pepsi/nestea ect.
we need to get a head count , im going to Cosco/sam's club to pickup stuff at the end of this week or the weekend before the meet
also if anyone has any 360 games they wanna bring and some controllers ( i only got 2) i got a decent size TV we can use.

also i checked out the manasquan today , found a few decent places for photo shoots along the side of the lake

if you guys want to send $$ through pay pal so i can pick stuff up so we don't have to later on my pay pal address is [email protected]
just PM me or send a note on paypal who its from

lets get this going, we need to have a few really good meets to keep up with the west coast guys

Let me know what you need me to bring. I personally like charcoal...so I will bring that with me because my chicken wings suck on a gas grill. I also shop at Sam's(and my name is Sam) and I can pick some stuff up.

So it's officially official.

August 15th at e-town.

Gates open at 9AM and I'm guessing it's going to be PACKED. Let's figure out a place very nearby where we can all meet up and get to the gates in one cluster so we have the best chance of getting all our cars together. We should shoot for a place no more than 5 mins away, and aim to meet up for something early like 8AM that way we can shoot the shit for a few minutes, then head to the track.

There's a supermoto practice starting at 8AM on the roadcourse, so we'll have a bit more traffic to contend with than even just the 9 million Honda's that show up.

Now I just realized that this REALLY means I have to get the car ready in time because my Mazda is not welcome there, so if it's not running I'm assed out.

We can nail down a place between now and then to hang out after we all depart from e-town, but we need to get on the ball with that too. Food, etc, I can help with as well. I'm sure there's a store nearby enough to detour to and grab some dogs and burgers to toss on a grill.

How's the time work for everyone? I know it's early, but quite your whining and wake up early one Saturday in your life.

Damn Carot, I'm sorry to hear it. It always sucks when you lose one.

...well, as effed up as it may sound (the whole replacement factor), I have a momma that just has a 3 week old litter of 5, and (yeah I know) two other 10 week old kittens (one male, one female) that need to find a new home too.

russiankid
07-28-2009, 07:04 AM
Either way I have A/C so you know who to a hitch a ride from:cool:.

If you need those pinch forks really bad there are a few whole 3rd gens at a junkyard near by. I can find out how much the guy wants for them and he'll pull them too.

markmdz89hatch
07-28-2009, 07:18 AM
thanks for the A/C offer, and the fork offer too. I have to pull that from my sig anyway, because I think I worked out a deal on the forks already.

Yeah, as for A/C, Steve and I (providing I get running in time) are both planning on doing at least one event down there, so in order to lessen the pain in the event one of us were to break, I'm going to be trailering mine down there so we have the ability to trailer at least one of us home. I'm bumming my brothers Trailblazer off him for the tow vehicle, so I'll be enjoying the icy cold A/C on my way down too. If I end up getting stuck driving the hatch home, I'm fooked though because I don't have shit under the dash, not even just a fan, so I'll be roasting for sure.

russiankid
07-28-2009, 07:23 AM
If I do any of the events I will have to bring my spare tires that I don't care about which will minimize the amount of shit I can stuff into the trunk for the BBQ later.

I can bring drinks if you want. The cooler I have keeps the drinks cold for 3 days...still ice in it after 3 days.

As far as the auto-x goes, if I could get at least 4 runs in I would do it. Looks like I won't be going it because 3 runs isn't really worth it.

Sam, 3 4 or 10 runs, you're dragging your ass and that gold nugget to e-town and flinging it through the turns. just don't make your front bumper turn into an angry pylon eater. If I'm going to bust my balls on my car getting it ready for this damn thing, I definitely want to see a sedan driver repp'n for the 3G on the auto-x as well.

::end rant::

Maybe...haha.

I want to replace the lower ball joints before I do it though. They're old and I will be commuting on the car.

$27 on autohaus.

Nope, I do however have rebuilt calipers and all new brake lines, along with HP brake fluid and quality pads and rotors. I am going to get some Moog ball joints and hopefully replace them next week.

good luck with it. if you don't get them installed by then, bring them with you and I'll bring the ball-joint installer I have.

I'll get them in for sure. I can get each side of the car apart in about 10 minutes and there is a shop near by that can press them in.

P.S. If I auto-x, I will be bringing tires with me to use. Is anything going to get jacked for when I am racing and have stuff out of my car?

Just placed an order for some Moog lower ball joints. I guess I will join the crowd of fixing their car before the meet.

So...do we have a confirmed meeting spot for both before and after the track? Also...GP what do you need me to bring? I can stop by your house and drop it off so it doesn't turn into a milkshake in the trunk when I auto-x.
