so as some of yall know i just got my 89 lxi running this past sunday and its been running fine.....untill now. when im driving it runs fine its when i stop it cuts off. its on auto so im not stallin lol. it cuts off so smooth to i dont even notice it. at first it was when i come to a complete stop now its when i slow down now. i was going around a turn at like 10 and it just cut off the only reason i noticed is cause the power stearing went away....

my car has been idling around .75 and it would shake real bad then i set the idle to 1 and the shaking stopped and the it started cuttin off around turns

and i just put in a radio and everything on the car works

help.....

maybe try adjusting your tranny cable

good suggestion, anytime you change the throttle stop you should check the tranny cable too because it directly affects it. It would have to be pretty far of to stall out the car though, maybe stuck or hung, binding...

that points towards the cable even more....if I lived closer, I'd come look at it....but I live in the Gaffney/ Spartanburg area.

yea so i just took the car out for a drive and it drove perfectly fine

i did notice the motor gets really hot the temp is in the middle but when you lift the hood it is really hot, you dont even have to get close to feel it...

two hours after i drove it, it was still hot

Your transmission is getting ready to die. The only thing you can really do at this point is put in a cooler and see if that helps. Changing fluid may cause it to stop working completely. I had this same sort of thing happen to one of my cars, happened just north of Atlanta on my way back from moving a friend to SC.
