Make sure the hold for the needle is not binding it making it difficult to move.

speedo meter is a lot different ! beacause it's wire controllered , the tachometer is ignition control !

make sure it's attached good to the tranny !

I had the jumping tach..and shortly after that the alternator crapped out..with the new one..smooth as silk, speedo cable binds if not correctly routed under the hood..check for crushing

What kind of voltage should come out of a 88 LXi with a good alternator.

get a cheapo digital voltmeter, analog style don't react fast enough should peak out around 13.6 low end 12.3..but for a jumpy tach watch for smooth rise and drop of charging voltage in sync with enginer rpm. Best way is to plug into cig lighter while copilot watches meter

It sounds like your speedo cable is binding. You'll either need to lubricate or reseat it.

Okie...so did this problem started before you installed the indiglos?
Like I said, it might just be the needle is binding a little with the indiglos. Make sure that the needle can travell all the way without any binding.
