Hi, I am doing the full timing belt kit soon

(Tbelt, 3 acc belts, valve cover gasket / grommets, water pump and seal, tensioner, cam seal, crank seal.

Just did plugs / pcv. Wires seem good, Just seam foamed, doing cap and rotor / fuel filter / air filter. (i know i should have done plugs after)

My mechanic is going to adjust the valves when he does the cover cause my valves are chattering the slightest bit under some rpm.

Car is basically stock except for magnaflow muffler.

What should I have the timing set to? I dont mind using better gas is the car will run better.

Anything we can do with the valves while he is in there ?

Every motor will be slightly different. Start off with the timing on the label under the hood and advance slightly from there. I had a carbed car that would take about 2 degrees of advance before it pinged, even with premium. One of my friends had an LXi that wouldn't ping at full advance with regular. You're really only going to get it set perfectly on a dyno, so just start with stock timing and bump up until it pings on regular then back down.
