how do i set base timing on my 89 lxi there isn't any adjustment to dist. base?

if you are talking about igniion timing !
there are two nuts i think 12mm , loosen those and adjust using a timing light aimed at the hole @ the flywheel ! i 've heard before tha some vacuum lines should be disconnected ! not sure about that ! i do it without disconnecting anything !

i figured it out its 3 10 mm bolts wih caps over them

i think you got the wrong ones ! not sure about efi though ! :(
do you have a hitachi or a tec distributer ( tec dist. has teh igniter on it , the squared silver thing ! )

fi has 3 bolts
disconnected the vacumm advance

mine has silver box and 3 bolts so should i disconect the vacume advance 4 good or just to set timing?

Disconnect it just to set your timing
