Jeebus.
To be honest though you can't really blame the car for that one. You hit anything in this class like that and it'll be a long shot. Got to be safe out there, though. Crazy people everywhere.

how fast were they going? we've had people in these cars take hard hits and the cars looked nothing like that, they aren't exactly tin cans did pretty good for their class in crash tests.

they had to be going balls out to flip like that

The red Accord was going under 10mph (the light had just turned green), and when they had almost completed the left turn, the black Dodge came down the same road from behind them (but on the wrong side of the road) and hit the Honda going over 80mph. The Honda's driver lived for eight years before dying of the injuries from the wreck. He was 20 at the time of the accident. The driver of the Dodge was 16, and was driving fast to show off to his friends in the car with him (since there were no drugs or alcohol involved). He didn't have time to stop behind the cars behind the Honda, so he diverted to the left (on the wrong side of the road since there were cars on the right who were going straight at the intersection) and the Honda turned in front of him. It flipped over because after being pushed for over 200ft, it hit a light pole and turn upside-down. The Honda's driver had a broken pelvis, his spleen and liver were smashed, and he had several blood clots in his brain (which caused him to go blind). He was rendered quadriplegic (paralyzed). The Dodge's driver practically got a slap on the wrist: one night in juvenile detention and a $300 speeding ticket. He walked away from the crash, and so did his two 15-year-old passengers.

Well. That penalty for the kid in the truck is clearly horseshit, but like I said there really wasn't any escaping some serious injury from that incident. Could've been in an H1 and still gotten messed up.

People are nuts, you never know who's about to fuck up or where.

...the kid in the truck...

That truck was no truck at all. It's the black car in the last two pictures. Just imagine what could have happened to the Accord if that car was anything but a car. Say, a truck, like you said.

When I drive my BMW I feel safe, when I drive the Accord I feel safe. After seeing those pictures, I won't feel as safe in the Accord anymore. My BMW is a tank thankfully.

That is discouraging. Oh well, I guess if we were so worried about safety, we would drive a Volvo or at least a car with air bags. : )

i remember a accord posted on here a while ago that was split in half, and all that was holding it together was a seat belt. apparently the driver left the scene before anyone arrived cause the car was in park & no keys in the ignition when they found it lol

I feel fopr this guy but i got t-noned by a car speeding on a 50mph road. I cant say how fast she was going or she wont tell the truth but it spun me around and the only marks on the road were from my tires. I absorbed the entire crash in my hips and backs and walked away with a few bone bruises and even showed up at work the next day without a hospital visit.

I feel safe in my accord without the seatbelt working correctly anymore. Hell I bet noones accord belts are working correctly if they are original. The sedans are probably good but the HB and coupes, no way

Mine don't. Well, my driver's side doesn't. The passenger's does. That one was hardly ever used. Neither of them retract, though.

Have you seen the infamous Smart Car thread?

No, but I was watching the news and saw this company take a Mercedes E-class and make it go head-on with a Smart and it turned out like that Chinese truck a few posts up.

so the guy did survive the initial crash.

That driver should have been put in jail for way longer for that kind of stupidity and with that utter disrespect for others lives.

I'm amazed someone was allowed to take these photo's. It would have probably looked worse with a lower car in the picture.

Ive been parts of two or three of my own crash tests in the accord, and they fare pretty well all things considered.
