I was just wondering, I own a 92' civic vx, it's really light and it's pretty quick the way it is, but I was wondering if it's possible to convert it to a vetch without major problems??

yeah, radio shack sells them fairly cheap, I think $19.99 and you can choose the color you want, blue, red, purple, whatever. :D

Go to a honda forum for your particular kind of car, our cars are older then yours, the other forum can help you a lot more.

Nate.

LOL... If no one had caught that I was going to be all over it!!!...

Anyways... you cant just make your engine a vtec... Vtec is all about lifting your cams higher and so on... like kicker said... if you want to go vtec... you'll have to swap the engine for a vtec one... but thats very pricey $$$$ ... you can do the other basic modifications if you havent already and notice a nice power gain.... cold air intake w/ k&n filter, headers, possibably a custom downpipe, catback piping, performance muffler...each will cost you anywhere from $100-250ish... maybe a little more or less... let us know what your looking for in terms of overall power and exactly what you have done so far....

or you could just listen to Nate....lol.. if you want to stick around.. We'll help you as much as we can... but we are a 86-89 accord forum....

Some valve covers don't say VTEC on them, and sometimes you can barely if at all feel and hear it when you don't have a very powerful motor.

Yes the 92 civic has vtec, vtec-e to nit pick. From idle to 2500rpm's the vtec only open's 1 intake valve to promote swirl/ air fuel mixing to inhance economy and torque. At 2500rpm's it open's the 2nd intake valve partially open for the same reason's was keeping it closed below 2500rpm's. At around 4500rpm's it open's both valve's fully to promote high rpm breathing.
This is the same system used on the 3.5L V6 used in the 99-2000 odessy minivan. I don't think the current 240hp version used it anymore.

It should also be said the the gearing in the VX is increadibly tall.
2050rpm's at 60mph. So you'd be better off doing a swap that brings a new transmission into the car than trying to make a peaking (true) vtec work with it's gearing. A b18B would be a nice 48hp pop.

Those VX are so economic on gas too. Better than a Geo Metro.

And you're right about the tall gears too... It's fun to drive tough.

well there ya have it man... now you can go about all of the basic mods and know that you NOW have Vtec!!! Congrats!!!... lol... I really didnt think they started untill 93 either..hmm... anyways thats why we have carrot!!!! I think the reason that all of the adds have Vtech is becasue not a damn one of those people that sell them have any idea what Vtec really is... much less how it's spelled....

i could understand it sometimes but its like 95% of the dealers around here say vtech

lol...dumb bastards.... haha... you should really walk up to a shop that has it printed out... and ask them if they have any cars with "Vtech" in them and make sure they see the spelling... then ask them how long they have been working in the shop... I would bring a Vtech phone with me just to rub it in thier face a little... I love giving those dealers shit its so redeming sometimes... :flipa: :flip:

hey.. some one told me that the newer cars aren't done with Vtec anymore, cause these kids are blowing the cam out with NOS.. something about the Vtec cam can't handle the extra quick gain??
