i scored a 1991 Accord EX coupe today for $300. was told it needed a transmission turns out its a wheel bearing

took my hub in to get new bearing pressed in they said the hub was fucked went to junkyard grabed a whole spindle for $75 it has some bearing play will need to get it replaced in near future but it didnt seem to make any noise when moving the car around the driveway.. insureince company is closed so i cant test drive it until tomarrow

yeah i hope it comes out as good as the civic did!
tonight i cleaned the engine ups some new pics tho lol also put a new pcv valve i added brake fulid swaped the tires around (cholo rims on bad side steelies on good side worn to wire tire on back car no longer pulls )
and drove it around some it drives good except for a cel from a bad vss

damnit drove all the way out to bakersfelid got the last vss in the junkyard (after walking down every damn row!) poped it in still throws a cel and still doesent work ! gotta get it fixed asap so i can smog it as i know it wont pass smog if the cel is on

are you 100% the code is fro mthe VSS? also check your fuses when my vss went out it blew my fuse for it aswell. mayby you have more then one problem and its causeing the vss to go bad

yeah i reset it and i just went down and got one from a used honda parts dealer for $50

haha yeah ive had to deal with the wire nuts before on my geo was a disaster because the factory harness was choped to hell and cut really short and half the wire nuts fell out which caused the deck to short out (every time u hit a bump the power wire would ground out) ... when i saw that wiring i wanted to kick my friends ass :lol:

well yes and no
the clutch kicks in and i see a little bit of freon moving thu the glass but it never gets cold air so it probably just needs a recharge lol ill have a shop do that...

i just got done repainting the trim looks much better i may post some pics later lol

I want that damn amp. Back when I was massively into the car audio (back in like 99-01) I was torn between those or Phoenix Golds. I ended up with Alpine V12's instead. If you do decide to let it go, please let me know.

that sucks again that you're so damn far away. My wheels (see sig) I've been seriously considering selling, and they're drilled for 4x100 and 4x114.3 too. ...of course, you'd have to like them too.

Regardless, I like what you're doing with it. the amber corners should look good, but if you did that, I'd swap the front indicators/fogs/whatevertheyare for ambers as well.

well i normally do like to keep the car but something normally goes terably wrong were there just not worth fixing
1988 accord had some pretty ugly rust and i spray painted the hell out of it and the only good body parts on it came from the parts car lol interior was trashed as well so when the head gasket blew and the trans was dying i figured it was time to let it go

1987 accord needed allot to get it registerd and had a blown head gasket and wouldn't start so i just used it as parts

1969 plymouth valiant needed the engine rebuilt and full restore which i was not in the position to do at that time

1988 acura legend wouldn't pass smog needed engine rebuilt frame was twisted front cross member bolts were striped and kept backing out so it was not safe lol

1991 honda civic still have this lol
and now i have the accord too
so havent had to many they just were peace of shits haha

SE's!!! the leather looked really nice in them too, not like what you get out west, no sun damage at all!

3 of them were the same color as yours too.

I say, swap your interior to SE black leather man.. that beige/brown looks kinda boring and dos show stains. Just get someone on assignment to get you a complete interior from west side and send it to you.
I had a brown interior in my former 3G and I hate it everyday, but I was unfortunate to find a black mostly because they were sold in brown, blue or gray colors here.

i actually like the brown interior one of the things i missed about my 3gee... i do love black interior but right now without the ac going i dont even want to think about sitting on leather when its over 100f outside :lol:
and yeah it has a couple stains teh ones on the pass seat are new from me i cut my finger when i was trying to get the damn wood grain off :headdesk: but ill get them all out soon enough

you got water in a connector... i'd unplug any of the plugs in the bay that have to do with the fan and attempt to dry them out, if not check on that timer thing as after you washed it this began to happen could have knocked something loose or broke something.

Yeah i noticed that. Its confusing the hell out of me since its the same hose and it was not kinked before and its not on backwards ether. i was hoping it would go back to normal once being pressurized. But most likely i will end up cutting some of it out.

Try putting the end that is on the radiator onto the engine. I think you just have it on backwards. Also, one piece of advice, put the hose clamps back the way they were. The hose clamps leave a small indention in the hose as to where they were. Putting it back insures a proper seal.
After looking again it does indeed to be on backwards.. (note to self dont do things to car when running on 2 hours of sleep lol) And yeah ill put the hose clamps back to the indented spot.

Tonight i just flushed the brake system as i lost all brakes going down hill tonight :omg:. I'm hoping the flush helped as it seemed to only lose breaking after the brakes would heat up(and the fluid was the blackish brown and very watery) but I'm leaning towards it needing a new MC :headdesk:

suspension and wheels plan is honda odyssey 5 lug conversion with 06+ civic si wheels + tein coil overs + enrgery suspension bushings.

engine plans is a N/A F22 i can accomplish around 170 something whp on just a head build.. im aiming for 220-250 whp for a completely built engine (lots of research to do on N/A builds.. lol)

i wasn't aware that the rotor was pressed on, that's absolutely retarded. There are a lot of things i really don't like about newer honda's... they always seem to make them harder. I have to say though, my Fit is pretty much a civic from old days, other than the non independent rear trailing arms.

true yeah i feel the same way about most newer hondas... whats odd is they used this brake setup on the 1G then they realized it sucked and went to rotor over hub on the 2g and 3g and then on the 4g and 5g they were like hey lets use the shitty setup we used on our 1st gen! :lol:

yeah i gusse when rustolemie took over duplu color they did something to the chevy orange paint because its difinity alot brighter!!! it also doesent stick as well :dunno: but yeah my camera doesent help ether its not as bright as it looks in pics... tomarrow after i finish getting the paint off the H and text ill take a pic with my moms hp camera

i hate the all original look... i think it can look original but have nice wheels, amber corners,your grill insert, and lowered about 2-3" with a nice deep exhaust... perfect for me right there, it's basically how my car is only i have a lip and a roof rack lol...

well i just dont want to spend alot on mods and what knot on this car because im saving up to get another cb to turbo i want this one to be is comfortable reliable and respectable
plans for this one is
all new ball joints , bushings , sensatrack struts , lower miles engine and a cappuccino fender if i ever find one also a new bumper since mine is fucked other then that its going to stay stock tho ... and that right there is going to cost a good amount of cash XD

btw im shocked at the mpg this got the other day... going to ridgecrest we were stuck behind a cop so we had to go 65-55mph the whole way and it got around 38mpg XD it normaly gets around 30 highway

everything ive read had the specs i posted ... its an old as fuck amp so finding info on it is not easy.... and yes i did have it hooked up to that little sub and it did blow... i plan to get 2 300watt rms 12"s later on down the road but for now it can just sit under my bed...

got a massive oil leak from hell dammit.. checked the oil yesterday was at half... checked today (put around 200 miles since then) and it was not even fucking showing on the dip stick1!1 added oil... came home looked under car and the whole under side is covered in oil! just drenched in it.. all over the exhaust/cat/ sway bar etc ... this is going to be fun lol

i gotta do an oil change tomorrow anyway as its almost at 3k on the oil and there was a sale on quaker state the other day

That's what you need to do for a while. Get a sack of crap that you don't want to mod and either save up for a car you do want to mod or fix that car "to-be-modded" little by little. Having a modded DD isn't always the cheapest route.

Try to find something cheap and semi-reliable. First and second gen escorts are cheap as hell, there are tons of them in junkyards, they are decent looking and share lots of the same parts that 323s and Proteges do. If I was going to get a beater, it would be a Gen 2 Escort Coupe or Wagon. Easy to fix and parts are cheap. They are really simple cars. Another good option is any Saturn S-Series. They never really changed anything mechanical for the 12 year span of their lives. SOHC and DOHC were the only options in engines, all have PS, PB and A/C. A good place to start. Good luck with what you have now.

yeah i allways have a saturn sl2 in the back of my mind when i think reliable dd.. the escorts are good cars too my parrents had a 90 gt after there 3g hatch got totaled and it was a pretty good car but they spent alot of useless money on it taking to mechanics trying to fix a surgeing problem which ended up just being a ground lol(pwnt?lol)

but yeah thats exactly what im thinking cheap mostly reliable car that can get me around town and to work and back so i can save up and move out of my parrents place (cant take it anymore they fight way to much and next week my whole family includeing me is moving in to my grandmas place.. really fun... not lol)

if parrents do move up north in december like they plan to then ill be able to get my old civic back but that wont be really reliable but atleast with a little bit of money it would get me around town so i can save up a bit longer and get something decent

It went though oil way faster than a couple quarts every 3000 miles, but damned if it didn't start up and go whenever I needed it to. At some point you just have to recognize you have an old-ass car that works, and it isn't really worth fixing. I think you should stick with the CB and drive it until the wheels fall off. If the engine explodes no big deal, you're not out much. The more work you put into it will just make it suck harder when it does eventually die/you get rid of it. If you treat it like shit and don't care, it'll still do whatever you need it to and you won't have a ton of time and money in it.

I hope you figure something out though, it's really cool that you care so much about whatever you're driving and really want to make it better, no matter what it is.

cah, my sedan isn't heavier than your coupe or your hatch, with the rear gutted like mine is and no ac it wieghs about the same as your hatch, maybe 50lbs different... plus i just took off my heavy front cross member for a traction bar. plus the sedan is only 100lbs heavier to begin with, it's 2200 in stock trim for the dx...

oh and as for engines mine isn't a b2... it's a b7 rebuilt bottom end with a z6 head, intake, header, exhaust, no cat... it's decent.

i know my coupe is alot fatter LOL but i was refering to the hatchie... and yeah i didnt know u had all that done to it... i still think my civic had problems i know the valve glides were worn and the rings had seen better days lol

I don't think getting a shittier car that you "won't get attached to" is the answer. Get attached, get a job, and get wrenching... I've been attached to every car that was ever mine or in my immediate family and i drove.

miss my wife's eg hatch (no idea, sold it)

and now i'm on the 08 Fit and the 90 DX Sedan. Love them both, haven't done much to the fit, only wheels and an aux audio jack but i still like it.

Really with money these cars aren't annoying it's just time consuming. They're definitely worth it in the end... i use something like "oh it's pissing oil, may as well H it now..."

i have no problem with 70's c10's, my cousin has a 74 stepside 4x4 that's a pretty sweet little romper, it's painted flat black and has no interior.

i have no problem with 70's c10's, my cousin has a 74 stepside 4x4 that's a pretty sweet little romper, it's painted flat black and has no interior.

eww she still is losing more and more power even without the cel on(yes cel is cleared)
its gone from being able to go up the hill at 75mph in 5th at about half throttle to having to be floored in 4th at 45mph O.o and when it went 75 the whole car was loaded with people... and this time the back seat and everything was gutted out and just had 2 people up front... so yeah im confused on what could cause dramatic power loss... wonder if the head gasket is leaking or something... ( i know it leaks oil out the sides) but she shows no signs of smoking or anything so im lost lol

hopefully it stays alive for a few more months X_X

well i got a full tank of chevoron 91(normaly run shell 91 but shell dubble chraged me last week which over drew my bank and gave me a $35 fee :@ so they can get fuckt.. so ive been putting crappy mobile 87 in it the past couple times) and that seemed to give it back some power and no more loud as fuck pinging lol still not as good as before so im wondering if the fuel filter clogged up when it ran out of petrol a couple days ago...

on another note. my right headlight burned out so i just orderd theses today

Yeah my vote is swap out the fuel filter(s) and check your cat. If you have a clogged cat, it'll do just that. Exhaust gasses get trapped and cause stupid power losses and eventually the car just won't run. i have a test pipe (need to find and install) so were see about that.. also yeah i plan on putting in a new fuel filter soon

Another vss bites the dust! .... sad too as it was getting the best mpg its ever gotten then that went out cel came on and bye bye gas lol

and yeah shes overheating every time it idles unless the fans are on... funny thing is its winter... in summer when it was 110 i didnt even have fans hooked up and it never went of half.... also smells like coolant at times... oil level changes every day ( as in one day its low next day its runny and higher without adding any..) and my coolant is some what brownish...
can anybody gusse what gasket an hero'd?

Drain your oil and I'm guessing you'll see milk. You're mixing coolant/oil now. That h/g is probably toast. Get that thing replaced before you warp the head and shit up your rad to the point of no return.
was going to buy one today... $150 for the kit... or $50 for just the gasket... i know it was only $25 for just the gasket on my civic so it sorta pissed me off ... the oil its self is more runny then normal but its not mily or anything (not like the other gaskets ive blown) so im going to try re tourqeing the head an hope for the best.. i dont wanna put $150 in an engine that has bad bearings and leaky rear main lol

yeah it did run fine on 87... then i advancied the timing which made a rather large incress in top end power but made it ping on 87 and 89 lol so 91 shuts it up lol

then FIX it!! the carb cars are a little bit different then the FI cars, but with a Fi car like that, unless something is wrong it should run just fine on 87, put the timing where it's supposed to be for one thing.

then its slow as balls(still is now anyway)... its not hurting anything thats why some acuras and stuff have to run on 91... it has to do with werre the timing is at(an compression).. i have it set to were it burns 91 correctly lol
.. but yeah when i have all the other problems not exactly worried about that right now...
it has a full tank of 91 anyway... ill probaly retard the timing when its next time to get gas tho as the engine is not worth the exter money of premium lol

I'm sure the pre det could be caused with a bunch of things.. i just remember reading if u advanced your timing to far it would cause pre det on 87.. which is what happened lol...

J something i reckon lol but yeah ill mess with the timing later and i found timing light (Y)

and nah it doesn't suck to bad about the muffler as i now love the sound of the car :lol: makes it feel sportier and funner

also i checked my coolant and oil today really closely and i didn't notice any mix of ether and it doesn't smoke and nothing comes out the exhaust so im confused on why its overheating when idling and sometimes smells like coolant... also the coolant level has not moved =/

looks good, you go through the hoses to see if the pre heater hoses are leaking on the manifold or down underneath to your header and burning up? also could be a heater core leak if you're constantly smelling it...

i'd go through the hoses first and see if it's leaking any out there, then i'd replace the thermo.

yeah i checked and no leaks... i wonder if its something else im smelling as it doesent use a drop of coolant =/ it smells "fruity" tho :lol: i wonder if theres some fruit roll ups stuck to my engine LOL

and yeah im thinking i should replace the thomostat then retourqe head (as it does leak some oil out the side) ... also someone told me the noise im hereing could be the exhuast sheld rattleing as someone else said they thought the same thing with there car so ima take that off and adjust my valves when i retourqe the head and see how that helps...

OK today's started out with pulling the power steering hose and res, then went to pulling alt and alt bracket to get the power steering bracket out, then i tested my ac clutch , then i cleaned the engine bay up, then i fixed my air conditioner w000t , then i installed my muffler
