Well I saw in the news that the cars they get will only last a mont in your local jy but then they are scrap, So are we youst geting alot of 3geez in the yard for acuple of mont's and that's it never to be seen aguain and if that's so it's going to be harder on us to get parts for are car's.

From what I have read the 3rd gens dont come into play at all because theyre combined fuel economy is above the qualifications for the program. Theyre mainly looking at clearing off old domestic cars and trucks that get low fuel mileage. I think the way the program is suppose to work is that they are crushed immediately no JY for them.

guys i posted all about this,our cars don't qualify they have too good of a fuel mileage, lots of late model Honda minivans do, and the old legend v6 , that one sucked anyway,sucked down as much gas as a caddy v8 and didn't have nearly the same power. the later v6's were much better. I still think this entire thing is idiotic, but it's mostly aimed at gas guzzlers. Of course the NSX qualifies but who in their right mind is going to turn in an NSX thats worth WAY more then what they will give you for it. the parts on an NSX alone would buy you a couple of new Hondas if you parted it.

yea but who is going to strip out all the parts out of the body to sell them, people mostly need body parts and drivetrain parts,they just throw them all in the shredder.

thats why I strip my Gray car of most of its parts before wrecking it. The same program is here also.. But there is solution.. buy a 3Gee and stripp it clean of parts and store it.. so you dont need to go to the scrapy for parts. and this is cheaper as well..

My guess is that they just use a conversion factor, so that F(Old EPA Number) = New EPA Number. My car gets 32-35 in the mountains so I don't see how they could possibly qualify, new standards or not.

They use the standards straight from fueleconomy.gov for their "standards".

There's a reason I've been stockpiling 3geez, I guess. I still have a whole coupe that I haven't really touched, and most of 2 sedans. 2 extra motors, an extra manual transmission, plenty of extra body panels. I'm set.

BTW, we traded in out 1992 Camaro using C4C. Got $3500 out of it, about $2500 more than the car would have been worth otherwise. The only good thing on that car was the body, and it was starting to get cancer behind the fenders. The car we traded in for is a Saturn Astra. Now, how many of those do you think I'm going to find in the junkyard in 5-10 years? They brought less than 20,000 of them over to the states, so I'm pretty stuck with buying parts from breaker yards in the homeland when the time comes.

Indeed right Vanilla, I wish I had a place to store more parts I\d store anough to systain my car so my grand children would benefit from it.. I cant get OEM windows anymore, those need to be custum made by a glass company.. mine is all damaged after 22 years of ice scraping, now when it rains and its dark i cant see a shit when I meet other cars.

I don't know if this happens everywhere, but all of the '86-89 Accords in Washington State get deep, long scratches when they have power windows.

All of them do, it happens. Some shops will polish them out, but some won't. I guess it depends on the severity of the scratches more than anything else.

I was talking about wind sheeld but ok, I was in contact with one old dude that worked at autoglass shop over 30 years and he said, that moisture deteriate that vilure material on the iside of water protective seal. than start to collect dust and there by scratch side windows.. It tend to happend more likely in northen climate than more dry climat. And they wont polish it because its to hard glass, it will only be mat surface left. due to spessually hardening prosses so the side windows shutter easy.

About wind sheeld, the drawback in getting aftermarket custom firt one is that you loose that green stripe (sum visor) so it will be totally blank.

that sounds like a cop out to me.

Well vatos I doo have my spare parts laing around they yard too but it does feel bad wen I go to the yard and see someny 3geez in their and like I said before I live in TJ and SD but TJ is full of them still.

Considering my car gets 37mpg highway...they won't take my car.
