hi im new here.

i just wanna ask what is the best size for the pipes between the cat and the muffler.

2.0" or 2.5"?

2" if you plan on staying in CA, which means you can't get any power out of it, which means 2" would even be too big, but it should do fine.

Edit: You won't gain any performance bigger than 2" unless you put a lot of money in the motor first.

damn! cuz the muffler that i wanna get has a 2.5" inlet and i cant decide if i should get that...

yep. 2.25 is the right size. It's what I use and I lost a bit of bottom end power before I put the bigger carb on it. So definitely don't go bigger than that.

replace the cat too with a 2.25 inch one...on my set up i think its a bit loud....put in a resignator if you want to quiet down and keep the cops from looking at you funny

2.25 mandrel or crushed?
been thinking about putting something together before i get the head....
Why not bigger?

In the shortest explaination possible, colder exhaust is harder to push than hotter exhaust. When you go from 1 5/8" to 2 1/2", there is a whole lot more room for that exhaust to cool down, which slows it down increadibly. A good exhaust system will be almost as hot at the tip as the header.
