quick question

Man its been a while >.< Moved back to houston got a job and now im trying to save up for a new motor.. My question is will the carb intake manifold bolt up to the a20a3 FI engine with no modification? The '89 lxi shows 120 hp.. Would be sweet with my 38/38. Was going to see if this local shop could find me one and swap the engines.

It will bolt up, but the difference between the A20A3 and A20A1 is small. Most of the power difference comes from the FI system and 4-2-1 exhaust manifold. The A3 has slightly higher compression for 88-89 and may have a slightly different cam profile though.

The manifold will definately bolt up to the FI block as that is what I have in mine.
But as AZmike says it really isn't worth it as an upgrade.

I think it is worth it if you are shopping for a good used engine, most definately get the FI A3 engine. You get the better downpipe, better cam, high compression, cast valve cover, etc..just swap over your distributor and carb & intake.
I still havnt got the intake off for you zigzag but it will be very soon now that the weather is milder.
