When my grandpa pasted away i got his car. Its engine only has about maybe 18000 of the near 119k on it. Its and Se-i but over the years the leather got destroyed and seatcovers were put on and the Bose audio soon died as well being replaced with a cb7 tape deck.

As you can see my car needs to be washed... It won't look as bad when i get it washed and I can start driving in a few months so this would be a great learners car.

yep its a perfect learners car, looks like its had a short but hard life, but it still looks straight maybe all it needs is some replacement seats from a prelude or something and a coat of paint and she will look brand new, hell maybe it only needs a wash, good score anyway

It does need paint and maybe some bondo. I found 2 1cm rust holes near the right rear door. Its on the edge where the seals meet. Shocks probably need to be replaced since its still the original ones. :omg: Though would the back seats of a prelude work or would i need to find a dead 3g sedan in the otay junk yard?

Those SE-i's are pretty rare now. If it runs well, it's worth fixing up in my opinion. The car looks fine, by the way. Some soap and elbow grease will have a big impact. What are your plans for it?

Beats mine!(yours is worse because of the interior) You got a really nice starter, though!! SE-i! I'm jealous...

Believe me, I've seen much worse. It's sitting in my driveway!!! You should check out the pics of my SE-i (even though it's a 2G) and you'll see what I mean.

I never really though that it was rare... Well Though this was called the special edition-injection... Umm, my plans are to get my permit, learn to drive stick, figure how much it is to get some leather seats or atleast some good grey cloths... I know the shocks need to be done and the rear tires need to be replaced. Then I'm gonna get it painted. I want it basicly the same color it was back when my Grandpa first bought it at Pacific Honda back in 1989. Dam that car is old it predates me. lol. Anyone want to sell me some seats? Some guy in canada had some but that's a bit far for shipping. Has anyone here tried that $50 paint job from walmart?

Oh yeah the sei is most definitly rare And! its the best one! and you even got the best color combo!!
as for seats i would get some 2g/3g Prelude or Integra GSR seats in grey/black there much more comfortable and look better ( the integra ones look better then the prelude ones imo)
and ive seen alot of the $50 paint jobs turn out great... if your by LA there is a guy that does them on youtube/hondatech with a spray gun(same paint as $50 paint job tho) and they come out pretty good

but before you go all crazy painting yours i highly recommend that you try wetsanding and clay baring it!

i'd suggest you get some spare body parts from a junkyard and practice before you go trying to roll paint onto a car you're gonna be driving...but it is your car.

those seats are DEFINITELY NOT more comfortable than 3g seats. Maybe more so than DX seats but LX-i and SE-i seats are the most comfortable seats i have ever sat in in a honda except for newer stuff like the new accords and pilot/odyssey.

Just get someone to recover them if the foam is still good. It would be about 400 for all the seats to be recovered. or you could take your chance at a wrecker but you won't find lx-i's that aren't burgundy or tan. So that's my advice. I'd do the rear shocks and tires while you're not driving the car. give you a good learning experience.

Glad to hear you're keeping it stock. The seats are gonna be expensive to reupholster, especially if you decide to do leather again. It will easily be more than the value of the car. The $50 paint job is definitely do-able, but it's massively labor intensive. You also need a relatively dust-free area to do the painting. If you're good with that, then go nuts. If not, you're looking at a Maaco job.

Maaco quoted me $1000 dollars for the paint job!!!! That was a few months back though. When the old man was still alive. And the only seat with the bad foam is the driver seat on the left side. If i can get them recovered in a grey color then that would be nice. I'll ask my junkyard friends if they have and preludes or integras. The integras might be gutted by now lol... Sadly i'm not by La. I'm near Montgomery airport. Pretty close to the honda dealer. So no going to the guy for that job... I can probably do the paint on like an extra hood i find. I got a guy that can do paint for $500 i think or i can go to tj.

The only reason I would ever get a non-Accord seat is for the sides that squish you so you don't fly side-to-side. They would have to have lumbar support, of course.

You need a car with predictable handling especially so when you are learning. Suspension, brakes and tires should be in good condition even if you do not engage in modifications.
Fix any problems you have there first, then go for the aesthetics.

Car looks straight; I've seen far (FAR) worse cars on the streets.... and SE-i are a rarity...
I saw one on the junkyard only ONCE. Stupidly enough, I did not take its rear disk brakes!!!!
