My heater core valve is leaking... :sadwave:
There are no wrecking yards for like 100 miles that have any 81 Accords.
My Honda dealer can't get me one new!!!
Does anybody have magical places where there might be a stash of these? Or have a dealer who might have them who isn't on the Honda network?
Or can anybody point me in the right direction? Maybe someone in Australia or NZ or Europe can get them new?
I need to get this fixed, as the leaking valve is dripping on my carpet leaving it wet and smelly!! :toilet: Thanks Honda, for putting it INSIDE the car!!!

Yeah, they're sorta close, but it's the weird way the pipe is shaped. It just won't work unless it's the valve for he 81. :(

Does it have to be out of an 81 or will any 1gee heater valve work? The Pick N Pull I always go to in Rocklin always has a few 1gee Accords. Or even better yet the Kilroys here in town might have a 1gee. I haven't been there in a while but they used to always have them. I need to get seats for the SE-i soon so I will check it out. Have you tried aftermarket yet? I know when I worked at Kragen we could get some heater valves. I believe they were made by A1-Cardone.

Ok, good news for you, I just checked with Kragen and they carry it. It's made by Factory Air, part #74770, $37.99. http://shop.oreillyauto.com:80/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=FAA&MfrPartNumber=74770
Is this what it looks like?

Fuck yeah that's it. Holy shit!!! I didn't think anybody made them new. I called around a few shops, but didn't called Schucks (Kragen). Hell yeah dude, you are my hero!! :) :) :)
Also, you have 1g Accords?! Would you be willing to snag me a few parts? I gladly pay a finders fee. :D There are NONE near me at any wrecking yards. Amazing how things have changed from just the 3 years I've owned this car...

I checked Honda Canada for you, but they're out also. Is this part specific to the year 1981, or is there a range of years? I'll check a couple of big parts places here in the northeast.

I tried a place called Direct Auto, and spoke to Eric. 800-611-6730. He is "75% sure" they have the part, but the warehouse he needed to call was closed for the day. They're on the W Coast. In their catalog, the part is $93.00. Refer to their part # WV-182. GL.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Spendy, but worth it to stop the damn leak onto the floor!

Damn dude, screw Kragen! Why the hell do they have it on their site if they don't carry it anymore? I knew there was a reason I didn't work there anymore. Well, I hope Direct Auto has it for you. I looked it up at work today and no Honda dealer in the US has one, or warehouse, or Vintage Parts. I called Select Auto and Truck and they laughed when I told them what I was looking for and said no way they would have it. I also called Service Center Radiator and Riebes Auto Parts (NAPA) and no go there either. You might want to try HAP Recycling in Rancho Cordova 1-800-999-9499. They are a huge Honda/Acura only recycler and may have it.

I don't mind at all doing this. Pick N Pull almost always has a couple 1g Accords. Kilroys used to have them all the time too but this was back when I still had my 79 Prelude, so I haven't been there in awhile. I don't get down to Pick N Pull very often because it is almost an hour from my house but Kilroys is only like 15 min away so I will check there first. I may decide to venture down to the Rancho Cordova Pick N Pull one of these days. They always have a shit load of Hondas down there and I need to get some seats for my SE-i.

so you're all right, it's stopped peeing on your carpet? i have a spare [eww] one thats a bit bent but you can have it for christmas if you still need one. when this happened to me i looped back the heater lines and froze, you might die in your climate doing this though.

I still haven't put the new one in. Been so damn busy, the car's just been under the carport since I drove it last. Going to put some work in this week, and I'll let you know how it goes. It is a nice looking unit though! So excited to get it going!
