No question is stupid as long as you are genuinely seeking an answer.

"Carb" is a slang term for an engine that uses a carburetor to mix the fuel and air together before it goes into the combustion chamber. Essentially (and this is a simple definition)The air comes in through the top and is controlled by butterflies and the fuel is squirted in and a bit farther down the venturi and atomized through the intake manifold, then finally reaching the combustion chamber to be ignited.
"EFI" stands for Electronic Fuel Injection, and is a newer type of fuel delivery system (more efficient, but many still prefer carburetors, it depends on what you are doing but anyways...). Air comes in and is controlled by a butterfly on the throttle body, and fuels is squirted in using fuel injectors which are mounted inside the intake manifold, then the fuel is atomized and reaches the combustion chamber.
In all, EFI gives you overall quicker starts and a more even distribution of fuel to the cylinders, but carbs are generally easier to tune.... anyways hope this helps, any other questions? Then click here: http://dtcc.cz28.com/history/vs.htm
