My 1989 Honda Accord LX just started surging between 1000 & 2000 RPMs, at lower speeds. Carb was rebuilt about a year ago, 242,000 miles on the engine/car.(Original fuel pump) The surging isn't a lot but in my experience it always gets worse. I live in a area far from town, I just don't want the car breaking down. What can be checked without having to spend a bunch of money?? Thanks

I figured out why the car was surging. I checked my distributor cap and there was engine oil in it.????? Cleaned it all out car runs fine now.
How does engine oil get in there? Cracked distributor????

I have replaced the o ring but not with a Honda part, it was a o ring from Kragen. I checked the distributor again and it has mostly red dust in it, not so much oil anymore. But the car started surging again Bad, Low RPM's 1000-2500 RPM with maybe about 1/8th throttle position. If I drive it like a Nascar the car doesn't surge. I had the carb rebuilt last year, fuel filters replaced then. I'm thinking replace the 2 fuel filters and see if that helps, but it is the stock fuel pump.
Please Help:madflip: I'm getting pissed at the car
