it only comes on when your low on gas.. like when the needle is past red... if it dont work then it could be your sending unit in the tank

thats the best bet you can also take the gages out and check to be sure everything is pluged in right

In my experience that light doesn't come on until you are seriously low on gas, like around a gallon left. I thought mine was busted too, until I really stretched it one day, and there it was. Before I spent too much time on it, I'd take a smalll can of gas and put it in the trunk, then run things way down. I bet the light will start to come on. It's controlled by something called a thermistor, or a temperature sensistive resistor. The fuel level drops past it and it gets colder, and it trips the switch. They're pretty reliable.
How's your fuel filter?, because you might stir up some crud in the tank running it so low.

Mine is broken in both of my accords. You can lift the carpet in the trunk and pull the carpet. You then have to remove the right side access plate and you'll be able to test if it's the light or the sending unit.
Like w261w261 said, it's a little sensor in the fuel sending unit that trips the light. Unfortunately, they can't be bought separately and you need to replace the whole unit.
You could get one from another honda and just replace that thermistor tough. I unsoldered mine on thuesday and I've been looking to buy another one.
my fuel light never goes out :( :crying:

just unplug the connector on the fuel sending unit to see if it's bad or not.
sure the light bulb is not burnt out?

It's a 16 gallon tank, and the light should come on when you have 3 gallons left.
