Not only are they really made to order but I found a dealer as well. I found the dealer on H-t and decided to give it a shot. Here is my conversation with them:

Mostly i was just givng another found dealer and a price instead of the almost 400$ off the innovative website. I wasnt expecting a big woopy over it just passing information.

well thanks for the information, that certainly is a good price... just wondered what the confirmed part was all about.

good to have options, even if no one here will exercise said options.

the last few posts about the mounts showed a few members questioning the actual availability of said mounts.

That is the same as saying air doesnt exist because you cant see it.....j/k
Yeah i wont buy a set Ive already made one set for myself and I dont like the way the rear mount is made / located. It runs into the brake lines and firewall.

too true about the air thing, it's more like people who don't believe the earth is round because they haven't seen it for themselves lol....

i know that when my friend who owns a shop called to request the quote they did in fact tell him they were made to order at this point... but said that it would only take a week or two longer than a normal order.

ok guys, let's not let this fall to the same fate as the other threads. I'll keep it open for now.

Here's the deal though. I just spoke with Tim at Innovative (literally just hung up the phone), and this time (unlike all other times I spoke with him directly) the mounts ARE finalized and ready to order. The turnaround time from placing the order to them actually shipping out should be about 2 weeks.

So, to the first person to ante up and order a set (yeah I know a bunch of you have been burnt, but that has nothing to do with ordering a set from Innovative), please please please take 9 million pics and write up a full and thorough review of this product. I'm dying to see someone actually have an Innovative mount swapped B into a 3G.

i'm so sick of people just spewing information, that's fine if the a20 makes more torque, add 2 bolt ons and the b16 now makes more torque.

Agreed. ...but the B16 is such an easy slap together, while the A takes effort to make power with. If quick, inexpensive, easy, and reliable~ish power with piles of aftermarket support is what your goal is, then I completely agree the B16/B18 is the way to go. For me (at least for now) I'm too stubborn to go that route and plan on finding every little last pony and putting it to work on my A.

i just think a 1.6 with 160 hp is fun.
i would love to have one in my car, boosted or NA. even supercharged lol i dont really care, either way it will be quick and fun..

btw what tranny would i have to use with a b16a?

markmdz89hatch
11-10-2009, 10:03 AM
B18, B16, or B20 (don't quote me on the B20 though)...

I'd suggest a B16 cable tranny (not hydro) with a DC2 LSD stuffed in it. You'll pay dearly for both the tranny and the diff, but I'm sure you'll love it. Shit I'd love that setup in my car.

b20 transmission in a 5spd is pretty rare, i think it's just an LS transmission anyway... most of the crv's were auto in the states... not sure elsewhere, i know the orthia had 5spd options as well as AWD so who knows, but the jdm itr tranny or the gsr tranny are good mates for any of the b-series motors...

i'm just thinking b20 (cheapest b) would be the best to go with since it's got torque and the ability to make a lot of power with a b16 head on it. even just stock with some cams and some bolt ons they are pretty fun little motors... personally with the a-series you're gonna spend enough money trying to make it fast that you could just go b-series now, especially with the availability of the mounts and such... i guess that's one good thing to take away from what everyone's been through (not like it's much of a consolation).

but i say all this and yet i've spent more money replacing and upgrading d-series parts to have a freakin h-swap at this point... so i guess i can't talk... i'm sick of cars at this point (and rain!)

I love the A20a3 dont get me wrong. But there are limitations to the A series platform. If it was perfect it would be in every car honda ever made. I could pull all the power I would ever need out of a turbo A20 for my track purposes, and currently run a NA A20 in my track car, and my DD. But at some point every car has its limitations, for the a series drivetrain its the transmission gearing options, not much available. Which is the whole reason I am changeing platforms. Some parts of the car can be changed and some can not. To be competitive with the 3g I have to do whatever it takes. plus passing a 60k porsche in a corner with a 12k 23 year old honda is complete Bliss. Its like having sex for the first time.

you can run any of the Bseries cable clutch transmissions
(IE any 90-93 acura integra 5speed)

Alternatively you can run any hydro transmission as well, but you will need to either convert your clutch to a hydrolic setup or get a cable to hydrolic conversion for the transmission.

I actually entertained this idea for a moment. It would be sick to have a turbo ls/vtec 2.0L with awd in a 3g hatch. I called around to some importers and no one would import the drivetrain. I could get the whole car to my boor for around 8-9k :banghead: But if i did that I would just drive it. LOL

Here is my work in progress. The engine is in moch up in my spare hatch, axles should be here tomorrow, a custom set made by gatoraxles.com (managed to pick up a sponsorship at the same time WOOT WOOT)

And no I am not using the innovative mounts. I actually went to the website and looked at the innovative mount pictures and decided to build mine using theirs as a model. Except I used 1/8th steel plate and 85a poly bushings. this has been a 4 year project and it is still on going. I just recently found myself in a position to start back on it full force.

Specs: b18a1 with an ERL superdeck 1 bored out to a 2.0L with eagle rods JE pistons and b16a1 head. Sk2 valves springs retianers CTR cams AEM true time 5 bolt cam gears - some other random stuff to much to list everything. you get alot in 4 years. LOL

That picture was from a Drivers education event last month. I hang out with the Alabama PCA club and the Alabama BMW club to help get as much track time as I can.

My co Pilot: This's guy is a Spec Mini pro driver I met through some guys at the Al PCA club. I had him ride with me all day and I rode with him in his mini getting a few pointers from a fellow FWD track driver.

That's what I was told directly from the coordinator of the production of these mounts (at Innovative). I also spoke directly to the owner of the shop that Innovative was leaning on to do the R&D/test-fit for these mounts, and he's confident they'll work well for us. ...and for reference, he's doing a B20 block/B16 head built for a customer's car (a 3G) that he's using as the test-bed for the fitment of these mounts.

OK i will throw up the mounts and pictures but this is about the innovative mounts and not mine... lol I know people will have questions opinions and advice but lets save it for the build thread that will be going up today or tomorrow.

The mounts were made from 1986 toyota corolla rear end links. I had a buddy with a spare set so I cut them up and ordered TRD 85a press fit poly bushings. Every mount Is made out of 1/8th inch plate steel. They are not finished yet as i need to trim the fat off them, sandblast and powdercoat and press in the bushings.

Ah yes I forgot to include the explanation of why its missing. I do plan on running a 4th mount. But I am not going to make it until I have made my new radius rod setup and have my radiator, intercooler, turbo manifold, turbo and downpipe in there for mochup. I hate making things 3 and 4 times so I will just wait and build it later.
