Maybe some of you have seen some pics of my old Aerodeck up here and I made a thread over a year ago, to ask what you guys think about an Exclusive Edition in THAT thread. (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?p=964883)
So it was 07.01.06 when I bought my first Aerodeck. I drove it before I got my driving license and after getting my license I drove my Mk2 Golf (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Vw%20Golf%202/Golf%2030%20juuni%2008/3.jpg) what I had been building. A bit later I crashed it and rebuilt it and then sold it. Then bought and drove my Volvo 440 (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Volvo%20440%201990/2-3.jpg) for almost a year, sold it this August. In 15.05.09 I brought home the Exclusive Edition. Then in September I shortly daily-drove my Mk1 Jetta coupe (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Vw%20Jetta%20Coupe%201980/4parem.jpg), but as it's a piece of s**t at the moment (It's going to be built soon), I decided, that I have to speed up with my Honda build and got it running in 2 weeks.

We swapped my old Aerodeck's A20A3 and the cloth seats in it for starters. Why the cloth seats? Because the driver's and co-driver's leather seats are a bit torn and they aren't going in again before they are repaired.
As for the engine, the A20A3 satisfies me at the moment, but we'll see if the future brings something other.
I also plan on using genuine Honda parts, for example I already have Honda Locking Wheel Nuts. I have front Koni reds and rear lowering springs from my old Aero, I need to find some front lowering springs.

What has already been done on the car:
*New timing belt.
*New oil + filter + gearbox oil + air filter.
*New spark plugs.
*Tinted lights from old Aero (except front turn signals).
*Masticked undercar and behind the wheels.
*Cobra alarm and central locking.
*Pioneer TS-G1718 in doors and a newer Civic's original speakers in the rear.
*Relayed lights.
*Definately I forgot something.

What still needs to be done:
*New tie rod ends in the back + some other bushings.
*Remove rust on rear wheel arches and some other places.
*A new thing that I don't know how it is in English (it starts on the side from the front fender and ends at the rear wheel arch, it's situated below the door.
*Re-spray the car.
*Repair leather seats.
*Get the windows tinted.
*LOWER IT!
*Definately something more.

And here are a lot of pics of it so far, starting chronologically.

Let's just say that I preferred the new body, because it needs a lot less work and it's an Exclusive Edition from factory. The other one can be restored, but it takes a huge ammount of time and money, time and rust have done their work quite well. It has also had accidents in the past and the car hasn't been restored as fine as it should have.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with both of them. The Exclusive Edition will stay, but I don't know the future of the old Aero yet.:crying:

I have no idea, it was so, when I bought it. But no worries, I washed it off. :D

Not that I know of. In Estonia here are definately NO coupes or hatchbacks. I've been keeping an eye on European car markets and haven't seen any of those there either. So even if there are some imported ones, their owners probably aren't going to sell them. The only Accord with flip-up lights that I have seen with my own eyes, besides Aerodecks, was a sedan.
Btw, why hasn't anyone of you imported an Aerodeck already?

Importing a foreign model into the United States has always been very expensive and close to illegal.

Yeah the US Government are the biggest dicks when it comes to importing cars. Every other country in the world seems to be okay with imported cars except us.

Umm, no... You should see the kinda hoops people have to jump through to get somewhat exotic imported cars street legal around here. Like skylines with Ford Mondeo headlights and rear lights from a trailer screwed to wooden boards. All because the original headlights don't have "E" stamped on them.

And you can forget about any interesting engine swaps too, unless you feel like spending 5-10k usd on just the paperwork. (number pulled out my ass, but can't be far from the truth)

And I also doubt that you'd have to pay as much tax, customs, shipping, then more tax on the tax, shipping and customs as we do here.

Have you forgotten what country we're in? They should seriously rename The United States of America to The United States of Taxes.

Aren't the last three generations of Skylines all completely illegal here?

I was talking about 90's skylines, I doubt you could get the newer ones registered at all. Goes for most jdm only cars too.

And you know, there are countries where you have to pay more taxes than you do. Take gas prices, right now we pay 7.50 usd/gal... and it's pretty much impossible for the price to drop below 5.50 usd/gal because of the way it's taxed. New cars cost probably twice as much as in the states. And no, we don't make any more money here either.

You probably have better health care, haha. Wouldn't BMW's, Audi's, and Mercedes' be the "cheap" (read: common) cars there, and American cars be the exotics? You should see the average detailed receipt from anywhere around here. All them damn little taxes...

Haha, well yeah we do have free(ish) health care and schools ;)

The german cars are pretty common, VWs and Opels probably being the most common. Altho all the normal models of toyota, honda and nissan are probably even more so. And of course the Swedish ones are quite common too, Volvo and Saab.

EDIT: forgot about the frenchies, we also have a bunch of citroens and renaults around.

But it doesn't matter if you're importing a car from Sweden, Germany or Japan. The taxes will still slap you silly, but funnily enough it'll still often be cheaper than buying a car here. And in most cases (at least sweden and germany) the cars will be in better shape, driven less and a bunch cheaper.

Haha, most of those are the makes that drop the quickest in value over here. Oh, and Opel and Vauxhall are the exact same thing.

You think Ford's, Chevy's, and Dodge's [and respective sub-brands] keep their value here? My mom's '02 Dodge Intrepid went from $8,000 KBB to $1,500 in about two year's time.

In Finland I guess there are higher taxes than here in Estonia. At least that's what I've heard from people about cars. If I'd bring myself a car from another country, then at home I'd have to pay 1900 EEK-s (less than $190) for first time registration, 500 EEK-s (a bit under $50) for inspection and the insurance depends on the car, the owner and where the owner lives.
I'd love to own some old 70's Japanese or American muscles. They look hot as hell! Unfortunately old Jap cars are mostly rusted out and the remaining fine ones have a price that you don't want to hear. Well that's in Estonia, but when I look at nettiauto.fi (Finnish car selling page) then I see old Japs with such low price that make me think about importing some here.

And in topic too, I've got some 14" Borbet B-s for winter wheels. Haven't made any pics of them yet, but they made my car higher, because I put some higher tyres on them. :D

The reason we have more of the older cars I guess is because of the ridiculous prices here, people use their cars longer because they're so damn expensive. Altho pretty much all the older japanese cars are rusted pretty badly here too, or then they're restored with classic tags and not cheap at all.

Finland in EU, so its not that expensive as here where I live, the most retarded country in the world when it comes to cars is Norway, its basically you cant do anything to our cars here. even if you lower the car you have to have a paper that says its TUV certified. but when it comes to taxing the import its crazy.. last years they worked out a model that makes buying car here is cheaper than import one from germany.

on the topic, I've seen one Hatch in Finland few years back, US import Blue DX.

Sorry for waiting, today I finally got some time in daylight and took some pics.
I haven't had time to paint the upper side of my bumper yet though. As this bumper has had some damage before me, I'm not going to use it next year, I'll only drive that one through the winter. For spring I got a white bumper, that's in almost mint condition.

But okay, to the mounting of the lights now:

This is how it look with the closed hood. You can see a hole through the bumper:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/2-2.jpg

With the hood open, You can see 2 hooks on the bumper and a plug. No bumper trim although:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/3-2.jpg

The hooks are there for holding the rear part of the lightholder:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/4-1.jpg

Now you need to use that hook-like stick. It has a coil on the other end and a butterfly nut on it. The black thing on top of the butterfly nut is just a rubber nut to protect the coils:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/6.jpg

You have to put it through the bumper in the hole that was in the first pic. The hook stays under:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/7.jpg

When it's through the bumper, lock it with the butterfly nut:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/8.jpg

Plug:

In Scotland / UK the Aerodeck was imported between 1985 and 89 in came as ex (cab) or exi (injection) the saloon accord (4 door) came with fixed headlights and the Prelude came with pop up headlights . I have spotted only one or two pop up headlights on the saloon . These would be imports also I have also spotted one hatchback (3 door) with the same front end as the Aerodeck. All Uk cars are right-hand drive the same as Japan . Maybe Aerodecks have never been made in left-hand drive so all the peeps in North America will miss out as they seem to drive on the wrong side of the road.:D

I think it was something about the 1st and 2nd gen hatchbacks doing good in the US, but not so good elsewhere. So for the 3rd gen they made hatches for America, and the Aerodeck for Europe/Japan. The US also got the coupe, which we didn't (not even Japan).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to import a car to the USA and drive it on the roads here it had to meet the DOT standards. I wanted to import a Holden Ute SS from Austraila, but I was told you have to have 3 cars, 2 to use for safety, ie. crash tests, and 1 that can be conformed to meet DOT standards. The Ute's are like $40k so if this is correct I could get one and drive it here for $120k. But that's what I was told I didn't do research. So if that's incorrect, I would like to know what the correct procedure is.

But the Aerodeck is practically the same as any other 3gee!? Only it's rear end is slightly different. The E (euro) markings don't work in the US, right? If so then the Aerodeck's rear lights may become a problem.

And for Hondamonster, no my bumps are just ordinary 86-87 bumps (86-89 in Europe).

And I've got a question for you 3geeers too. Do your cars interiors squeek or make unpleasant sounds too? The squeeking sounds drive me crazy!:nervous:

I'd say import it and find a trashed out hatch with a title and a vin and you'd be golden, well unless you had an accident, then you couldn't recover the areodecks value.

My interior doesn't squeak, are you sure it's not coming from the outside?

Last Friday the drivers side outer semiaxis/feed shaft grenade (I really don't know how it's in english, but dictionaries give these words. It's the rod that comes from the gearbox and makes the car go) broke down. We towed the car home and replaced the thing with a decent one from the other car.

As for the old Aerodeck, I'm probably taking it apart and scrapping the body.:crying:

You might have misunderstood me, I was thinking of scrapping the other Aero, not the Exclusive that I'm driving. The Exclusive is going to stay, even if I'm not going to drive it in the future, it's not going anywhere.. Ever!

It's been 3 years.. 3 long years, since I flipped my Exclusive Edition on a snowy road. To be exact, 19.03.2010 was the date. I took this picture some half hour before the accident.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/4462694277_3a0cf84561_b.jpg

No big damage was done, because it really quite softly fell on it's side and then slowly rolled on it's roof. Denting the some of the bodywork and crushing the sunroof and windscreen. Since then, it has bees sitting in my garage corner, waiting for me to do something about it.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Vw%20Jetta%20Coupe%201980/4a.jpg

The other Aerodeck, which I also used to have, got scrapped. The body was quite in a bad shape and I didn't have the time or money to put in it. Most of the parts I took for spares for the Exclusive Edition.

As I'm not living with my parents any more and am studying for some years already in university, which is 160km's away, progress on the Exclusive is going to be slow. But it's not a problem for me, because I really want to make it as good as possible, after all, this is my favourite car. :)

01.05.2013 was revolutionary as the Aerodeck finally saw daylight again. The interior was taken out already some time ago and the car pretty much only has the steering wheel, driver's seat and dash in it. The reason, the car got out of the garage, is that FINALLY it's going to a body repairman, who is going to fix the roof area and other places, that need some work.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/Rotu/Honda%20Accord%20Aerodeck%20Exclusive%20Edition%20 1989/DSC_0415_zps49f76cfa.jpg

As I said, progress is going to be slow, I'm not in a hurry. I'm just happy, that the car will get some love and attention again.

The reason I posted here again, is that to show you, that I'm still a 3Geez guy and that My Aerodeck hasn't been forgotten forever. :)

Hi again!
Some time has passed and I've gotten the Aerodeck back for some time already. The body repairman pulled out the roof to its original size (needs lots of smoothing) and welded new wheel arches and fixed some spots on the car floor. The rest of the work before paint is for me to do.
Progress is slow, because at the moment I haven't got much motivation to build it. On some days I've been bored and have done some bodywork, but it's still a long way to go.

Here's some pics of the car when I got it back from the body repairman:

There's still lots to do. As I've got most of the removable body panels from my older Aerodeck, I'm going to use the passenger door and tailgate from it, because the Exclusive's door is too full of dents and the tailgate has rustholes where I don't want them. I need to find another hood too, because the Exclusive's hood is, again, full of dents and bent and the old Aero's hood has lots of rust and also dents.

I also sold my everyday car (Vw Golf mk3 Variant GTD), because of a good offer. Now I'm still between putting the money into the Aero or buying a new everyday car or collecting some more money to buy an even better car. Sure I'd like the Aero to be ready, but the summer is almost over and I wouldn't want to drive it in our extremely salty winter.

If anyone is interested, this was how my Golf looked like:
