3GEEZ emblem/badge discussion thread...

Hey guys, as you may know I'm working on a small group buy for a 3GEEZ emblem/badge for the back of our cars (or anywhere you might want to put it).

These are being made out of T6061 aluminum and I'll be applying a brushed finish to them after they are all cut. They will ship with 3M Exterior grade, heavy-duty, double-sided mounting tape strips pre-cut to fit the piece.

This thread is incase anyone has any questions/concerns/etc that they want to discuss.

I really dont have an eye for what it would look like in certain places. For instances say where would be a good place to display on the interior and exterior of the car? Dash maybe next to the clock in that area? Upper door panel maybe? Id lovew to get a few but other then place them on tool boxes or something I just see where I would use them. Whats everyone elses Ideas here. Mark if you could snap a few pics in good locations for them that would really help me at least.

I like the idea of the battery tie-down. I'm sure the company I'm working with can do that as well.

If that's what everyone wants, I can clear these as well as brush them.

To be honest, the only reason I didn't volunteer that right off the bat is because bare aluminum in the engine bay stays pretty nice for quite a while despite not being coated in something. ...although, then wheels to oxidize pretty quickly if they're not cleared.

Is it possibole t6o get the inside as well? Maybe stick them together somehow and biuld a shadow box of them? I wouldnt mind it under the side mirrors on the trim but not with the box like that. If I thought I had the skill to cut or recess it into the trim that would be sweet

That's a good idea! And it wouldn't be too hard, either. Take an exacto knife and outline the outside, then take a grinding wheel and dig out out 1/4"! If I had 3 :naughty: I would show you guys.

hey guys, sorry for being MIA for a while now.

Messy(and anyone else that's changed address) --> no worries, I'll be reaching out to everyone who purchased before anything is shipped.

To All --> Only because I don't like hanging onto anyone's money, and don't want to drag this on any longer, I just fronted the extra $$ needed to place the order and went ahead and placed it. I actually did that a while ago, but now I have a massive stack of these on my workbench as we speak. Now comes the tedious process of applying the nice, even, brushed finish to each of these by hand. All will get shot with a few coats of clearcoat after the brushing is done.

If anyone who has ordered wants theirs raw, or brushed but not cleared, please shoot me a PM or just post it here to let me know and I'll update the original post with the finish requested. (If I don't hear from you, I'll just do brushed with clearcoat.)

I'll start shipping these out within the next couple weeks as I get them completed. Sit tight guys, these damn things look SOOO good. I'm very happy with the quality of this waterjet work.

Hey likewise. It seems like my summer was completely consumed with kids b-day parties or some other thing the kids had going on during the weekends. This new job (since Jan) has sucked up all my 3geez time too. The bike doesn't help my free time thing either.

Anyway, sure I'll post up some pics of the raw finish, but to be honest, unless someone is getting it P/C'd, painted, chromed, or wants to put whatever other finish they can think up, it should be brushed. This is not a CNC'd finish, it's a milled finish (ie. ugly. Some scratching, milling or extrusion marks, some random abrasive haze from the waterjet, etc.)

Sorry guys, I can't seem to get off my ass to get these things done. I've been home with the flu the past couple of days and spent some time with different materials to get a nice brushed finish on these. The picture shows them in 'raw' or 'mill' form. While they don't look all that bad in the picture, they definitely cannot be put on a car just like that, as the surface finish is all scratched up and discolored from handling and the milling process.

I assure you all, these will go out. If anyone is concerned, tired or waiting, short on funds, or for any other reason would like to be refunded in full, I'm happy to do that, and apologize for the completely horrendous delay in getting these out.

honestly, I'm the hold up here. I've had them in my workshop for a long ass time now and just can't get time to get down there and sand/clearcoat each one and cut the double-sided tape, etc.

I offered it before and am more than happy to offer it again to anyone. If anyone wants a refund on this, I'm happy to refund them in full due to my dropping the ball here.

For those that would prefer not to wait for me to get my ass in gear and would just like the emblem in raw form, I'll refund you $3 and send it as is asap.

(raw form is stock milled aluminum with some surface discoloration, scratches, etc. but nothing a quick sanding and polishing couldn't get glass-smooth, or as I am planning (brushed finish) there will be no traces of the original milled finish.)

I think very little people have received theirs yet.
If you read the thread you can see Mark didn't get the needed 50 buyers together so he covered the difference himself.
So most probably there will still be some emblems left. ;)

ok guys, so the dead honest story here is that I still have not sent out any of these emblems, and for no good reason. I have not yet taken the time to clean and apply the brushed finish on them either. They are in basically the exact condition as they were when I took the pic I posted over a year ago.

I did buy the full 50, and do have all of them still. Years ago I did already donate the $1 per item ($50 total) to 3geez as promised. ...but again, I still haven't sent any of them.

Here's what I can promise:
I'm happy to provide a full refund+interest to anyone who requests it. Original price was $14+$2 shipping ($16 total). I'll refund $18 per emblem to anyone who has paid and would rather have their $$ back.

If someone just wants to take it in raw form (no brushed finish, no 3M HD Adhesive to mount it), I'll ship them and refund $5 per emblem.

Please bear in mind though, as much as it sucks for me to come to this realization, I can't promise these will be shipped within x amount of days, etc. Right now the stack is buried on my workbench in my basement which is shoved into a corner while I finish my basement.

Edit: I had asked who had passed away, then got a sinking feeling I recalled hearing something about Alan. I had forgotten about that and obviously wouldn't have sent a PM intentionally if I had remembered. I had met him in person a couple of times and he was a great guy, so I mean no disrespect.
