I did a search on this and came up empty handed. I have an auto 89 SE-i coupe. When I start it up, the first crank is no good (held for 3 seconds), then the second crank works (2 seconds) but I smell tons of fuel. I was thinking it could be the TW sensor. But to add confusion when cold, the RPMs are steady at 1500, then once the engine starts to warm, the RPMs smoothly drop down to 850-900. As long as I don't touch the throttle, the RPMs settle in perfect, but once I touch the gas they stay up around 1500 with no fluctuation. I have adjusted the TV and the throttle cable, and made sure it wasn't too tight. Even when I put my foot under the gas pedal and pull up, the idle stays the same, this also happens when driving. Any ideas? Below is the only thing I can come up with:

TW Sensor faulty
Vacuum Unit

By the way, I don't have a check engine light when this happens. I only get a check engine light on longer drives (30 minutes).

check for codes in the ECU (under the drivers seat)

Welcome. Check for the codes. The computer is under the drivers seat.

could be a stuck fast idle valve

Thats actually what I was going to check today. The idle never bounces up and down, but maybe once more vaccuum is applied, the fast idle starts to stick.

Just about any sensor going bad could produce that symptom. I saw it when my TW was going bad and again when an O2 sensor was going bad.
