Just picked up a 1987 4 door speed for 970$ after my saturn blew the water pump which in turn destroyed my engine
I was the first person to respond to the craigslist ad, and was expecting a total crapbox but when I went to look at it found out it had 95,00 miles and was owned by the people who originally purchased it in 87.
what a surprise it was to see, brown interior and all even the oil still shows no signs of blackness when I pulled out the dipstick to check
So after smogging it and passing(with below the marked average numbers) I went ahead and payed the grand sum of 970 dollars for it
Glad to see there is a large forum for these cars and I just wanted to say hi and get a chance to introduce myself
gues I cant post pictures quite yet but when the forum lets me I will lol

Carbed is DX and LX. DX is the lightest, and LX has a foldable rear seat and usually has power windows.

If you're good, you can use a propane torch or a heat gun and make that trim look decent untill you get time to paint it.

A month later, I still looks like that... If I would have taken some steel wool and cleaned the bumper reallllly good before I torched it, it would have looked a LOT better.

Just if that worked for the rest of your car, Bass. ;)
Nice car, by the way. Reminds me of this old lady who lives by me with an '86 DX sedan with 55k miles.

So I think ima try this thing called Forever black to try and restore the bumpers a bit seems like it got some decent reviews, seems like a less extreme approach then taking a torch to them, that along with some other small things are all I think Im going to do Mod wise
So far Im thinking
Restore bumpers
Super light tint
clean the wheels up(maybe paint them a darker color IDK yet)
Hardwires my GPS charger so it just has the end that plugs in sticking out
Redye the brown interior black(still unsure of this, brown is pretty slick)
and last but not least is change all the fluids, plugs, filters and just tidy everything up lol

heat guns work to but like he said only last a month or so same with the back to black
best bet is some satin black paint it looks the best

I think your car is the exact same as mine! Are you gonna post some more pics? Like to see the interior and the engine bay. Looks like no rust at all, I have a tiny bit in two spots.
