Hey guys. Still doing some fixing up on the 87 and have another question. My switch has been acting up on me by being real stiff to turn and I have to move it back and forth for a while to get the lights on. Took everything apart and found that the circled part in the picture is the reason. Can I just grease it up to let it move smoother? Everything else in the steering wheel is lubed up so I'm hoping I can throw some in there. You guys have helped me out a lot with getting this car back to the way it was. Thanks for your help!!

Yep, I believe white lithium is what needs to be used.

Awesome, thanks man! I was hoping I could use something like that. I'll try it out tomorrow.

I've got some stuff here at the house called "High Energy Dielectric Protector". It's for ignition modules, electrical connections, and trailer plugs. Think that will give me the same results?

Silicone and white lithium are both good for lubing plastics and such. It should work great.

Well, I just took it all apart and noticed a smell that I could smell the other night. Thought at first it was coolant, but I think its electrical. The white plastic beside the circled part started smoking when I pushed it in. Is there a way to rebuild these things or am I going to have to go to the junkyard?

White lithium, silicone are just general purpose grease used for joints, not for electrical connections. You need a Di-Electric grease to go over electrical connections.... such as Permatex Dielectric Grease.

Well I ended up finding the combo switch rebuild how-to and tried it out and it worked! Only thing is, after about 10 turns of the switch, the black piece with the connections on it that slides broke. So now I can't use them at all! I'm trying to find a junkyard since I don't want to spend over $160 for the whole thing when 1 part is broken. Thanks for the help and I'll keep you guys posted!
