I'm thinking about getting new rims and tires for SH4D0W when I get my taxes. As I said, I'm THINKING of doing that, or getting him painted. IDK my budget is going to be in the 1k neighborhood. No less, but probably not much more, either.

Paint wise, his hood has serious pitting in the front from innumerable rock impacts from the roads in Mountain Home, and his life before that. Ithink a new hood would be best. sigh. The roof is faded pretty badly and theres a few minor dents. I would be repainting it the same color Code will be posted once I search and find out how to find it)

IDK about rust and such... I hurt too much to be crawling around on the ground in 29F. I'd imagine theres a little bit, but not bad underneath.

if I decide to get new rims, im looking at these:

We changed rim choices. Here are the new choices.

All those wheels are awful. I vote paint job. Plus, I'm not sure you know what offset means 4x108 and 4x114.3 are bolt patterns. Our cars are 4x100. Now go read some FAQ's.

I voted paint job as well. If the hood isnt physically dmaged its easily repaired. Rockchips and such are nothing for a good bodyman with a good da or orbital sander. They can take those down in nothing flat. No reason for a new hood. If you have the resources to do the bodywork yourself it would save a ton of money and probably be better in the end. Either way is cool. I would recommend going to a shop and asking what it would take, how it would look and what they would do to complete the job in a timely and oprderly fashion. Be sure to ask about orange peel and flatness. Do not use the term mirror. If you do the price may triple to scare you off.

I did read the faqs, and I know that we are 4x100 bolt pattern. and no Im not sure which offset to use, hence why I asked.

Thanks for saving the world, Captain Obvious.

I like these ones. I don't like five-spoke rims, and the other two look like they'd go on a miniature Escalade golf cart.

Really? The FAQ's will tell you the correct offset to use is around 40mm. You don't have to thank me for looking it up for you.

I'm partial to 5 spoke, and the shiny lip/dish, whatever you call it.

^agreed. 5 star's look good on 3geez, and a chrome/polished lip looks good on any car.

Not a big fan of any of those wheels, so I'm gonna go with paint job.

Also, don't waste time doing bodywork on a hood. I think I picked up my new one from jalopy jungle in Nampa for around 20 bucks. Parts out there are dirt cheap. You prolly don't have to worry about rust since we don't really have that here.

You should post up a pic of your car, and we should hang out sometime. If you need a buddy to go junkyard hunting with I'm down.

well, my wife FTW again - she already bought and paid for the top rims on there, these:

http://www.wheelsnext.com/images/wheels/large/PRIMAX_659_mb_2.jpg

and 4 new proxis 4's for 99.00, so the rims and tires are sorted!

the hood I'm not going to bother trying to repair it - its got stab marks in the top from a very unfortunate incident involving my step-son's temper, and a pair of garden scissors.. that's in addition to the tons of rock chips and dents and such.

A new hood is just the ticket, before its painted.

I would love someone to go junkyarding with! I'm going out next weekend to the Jalopy Jungle in Garden City to get some stuff they don't have here in nampa, and I want to go crawl thru the one on the Blvd in Nampa / Caldwell as well. PM me, we can set up a time.

The paint is not that bad. Only the roof is really noticeable from the pics.

I usually go out to the one in Nampa. Never been the the JY in Garden City. I'll prolly be free on Sunday if you want to go then. Not sure yet though. Gotta wait for the bossman to make the schedule for next week.

I ususally go to the one in nampa as well, but they don't have the part I need, and I've been thru all the 3Geez they had as of 2 weeks ago. I'm always happy to go again tho, and Sunday would be great if you are available - another buddy of mine is thinking of going on Sunday as well, followed by a frag-fest on COD: MW2 at my house afterwords.

yeah. I've pretty much dug through all the accord's out in Nampa as well. Never been the the yard in Garden City though so if you want to go to that one, I'll be down to go with you. Let me get my work schedule later this week, and then I'll pm you.

turns out the one is garden city is mon - fri only :(

I get off work at 8am Friday morning, and I'm usually good till about 12 noon... 2 at the latest b4 I'm in desperate need of sleep. That sucks. Well, there's other places- I know the one on the Blvd is open on Sunday, and they have a few 3g's. My buddy has a vw scirocco that he has built from the ground up, and he's looking forward to crawling thru the yard as well.

So, looks like I'll be going solo to Garden City, unless you can go on Monday.

BTW

The rims came today. No pics yet, cause I only got to see them for about 20 min before I had to come back to work, but they are sitting at my house. Going to wait till spring to put them on, obviously.

*Hopes it hurrys up with this winter BS*
