Anyone do it? the rear fit. but the fronts hit the tops of the strut tower cone. Can I make an indentation too the cone. so that they wont hit? will it hurt the strut?
I got these tires and wheels for free. I currently have 195/60R14s on my car. My buddy had the 17's on his 96 Integra GSR till he wrecked hit. They were collecting dust in his garage so he gave them to me. I thought about selling them but if the can fit I'll refinish them. do i need a 40 series tire or a 205 size? the tires are in great shape and would hate to have to buy new ones.
any ideas would be great! thanks.

Well the stock tires are 185/70 R 13 which has a total diameter of 23.2 inches. And the 215/45 R 17s are 24.6 inches. That's 1.4 inches taller than the stock tires. I'd say go down to at least a 40 series on those wheels which is still taller and wider, but maybe the wheel offset helps move them out. I've thought about chopping out the perch too if I wanted to fit bigger tires. I'd say if you just notch out a little bit, it would be fine, or hammering it in. I'd be afraid hammering it would deform it. Also, cutting might get it too hot and do something to the oil in the struts, so I'd just be careful.

maybe run a small wheel spacer up front?

The rear track is already narrower than the front (or appears to be because of how far the rear wheels sit in the fenders). If you run wheel spacers up front, it will look really odd. Not to mention you'll probably run those things all over the place. And your car will be lifted nearly half an inch with that wheel/tire combo.
