Anyone know how to fix a broken clock? The 2 little lights flash but the numbers don't flip over. Not sure how to get it out of the dash either. Cheers, Glenn.

I have no luck fixing the clock but as to remove them, pry the speaker grill of and theres 4 screws holding the clock trim to the dash. Get them off and slowly pull them off and theres a connector behind the clock itself and then you should see 2 more screws holding the clock unit to the trim. Hope this helps.

It's best to grab another clock from the yard. If it doesn't work, then you have one to learn on and one to fill the nasty gaping hole in your dash.

Ok, here we go...

First of all, be carefull taking the grill covering the speaker, is very easy to break the grill or the base.

Here is the grill, with two big tabs in the front, and two smaller ones in the back.

The big ones:

The smaller ones:
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/Imagen0169.jpg

Try to carefully pry it in the back with a small flat screwdriver, not in the front because the frontal tabs are huge and harder to take out of place.

Here is the complete procedure:
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/Imagen0171.jpg

You will take this out:
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081388.jpg

Take the 2 or 4 screws holding the clock, and you will have this:
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081389.jpg

Then take the 2 screws in the back of the clock, you will see this:An electronic board, easily fixable for someone with knowledge in electronics. (Any TV or radio technician should do the job, ar maybe a watch technician, why not).
Also note that there is a switch, that stops the clock when you are setting the time, the switch is in the setting wheel itself, shutting off the timing circuit when you push the wheel to set the time, and sometimes, the dust causes the wheel to get stuck in the pushed position, causing the clock to be in stand by mode (lights flashing but timing circuit off)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081390.jpg
A few gears in the back and the timing wheel controlling the switch in the front ( the black one)
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081391.jpg
With the numbers cleaned:
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081398.jpg
Hey! The thing is open, dont forget to carefully clean every number and lighting device to get a fresh looking clock.
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll144/collomps/271120081399.jpg
After cleaning. Compare with the first picture! And with lights on the difference is huge.

Good luck!

^^ Thats better and theres 2 screws holding the trim on not 4. What was I thinking >.<

Anyway I had mine replaced before. I tool apart the old one and couldnt really find anything wrong with it. I'm guessing the motor that flips them out stopped working.

If I remember correctly, it's been a few years since i worked on one, the little button that allows the clock to go into reset is stuck, thats why the lights are flashing, it's probably just gunked up is all. the lights flashing indicate the clock is in reset mode, this is why it's not working. if you were in the US, i would have you send it here and i would clean it up and try to fix it for you, I have a knack for fixing little stuff like that.

Did you tried connecting the clock to the car and pulling the timing wheel out? You should hear a `click´ if the thing is stuck in the pushed position, and a minute or less later you should hear `bzzzzz´ as the numbers change :)
I love that sound.

Sounds like a bad contact in the switch ( the one that makes `click´) Just push it and release it several times and see if it works. Also there is a trimmer resistor that you can turn a little clockwise and counterclockwise to make sure is not dirty in the contact surface, then move it to the original position again.
Also make sure the gears are free of things wetween the teeth.

Did you solve the problem with your clock? I was looking in my storage and i found out that i have a few new analogic clocks, speedometers (KPH), computers, and meters (along with thousands of other 1st gen Accord and Prelude parts)
I dont know how to send parts to the exterior but if you want a new original (analogic) Honda clock, just tell and we will find out how.

Pics!

I have 5 of them:

can you make me a high quality photo copy of the wing emblem on the side of the red box? you have no idea how long i've been looking for another one of those. I had one and I lost it, I need a high resolution one because copies of it will be used to make a paint mask for my hood scoop. I love the original wing, it's just a little bit different then the gold wing one.

Dude, how much for one of those clocks? My digital clock just recently started giving me problems, and it would be nice to have a nice, accurate clock. :) Did you manage to get any new chrome strips for the door panels? I'd kill to have non-peely chrome! :D

I have a few door panels,15 or 20, various colors and body styles, i have to make a catalog of them, with the correct application and colors next week, a new panel is the solution to the peeling chrome :D.
Also i have a lot of plastics, for the 4 and 3 doors models in various colors, once again, i will make a catalog and post them in the for sale section.
The price of the clock will be around u$d 100 plus shipping, i can confirm the price next monday.

thanks guysif you find one with the gears check to make sure something isn't jammed in the mechanism, gears don't usually just strip for no good reason, you would be amazed at what kids will jam into things. If you have something in there and you don't get it out the new gears may also strip

Just spotted this thread again & thought I should add my findings upon my Digital 'drum' clock(s).

There were actually two versions of these and they look near identical externally, though the earlier version actually has 2 separate circuit boards (instead of one like that shown earlier by 1GCustomAccord), and a number of the drive cogs from motor to revolving drum are also different & not interchangeable.

Looking closely at the clear revolving drums they have a ring of gear teeth upon the right side and the minute drums also have a pair of teeth upon their left to engage with and trip another gear between the drums to turn the next drum around for the next digit/number every 10 minutes between 5 & 6 numerals on the right drum, or hour, between the 0 & 1 numerals of the middle drum.
One of these teeth had broken off on my clock, the earlier clocks probably more prone to this problem as I noticed that the later clocks teeth had been extended further inward towards the center axis of the drum, and inwards behind the numeral area, making them much stronger.

To fix this problem I dis-assembled the clocks metal cage by bending their retaining tabs (the split 'teeth' at front bottom are particularly fragile but it will survive without one if it breaks) to remove the revolving drums. I had some scrap acrylic plastic strip (conveniently 1.5mm) that I could cut and file into the required shape (extended 2mm as-per the later design), and glue to the drum, replacing its missing tooth. The clock was re-assembled (and dis-assembled) again and turned though its usual cycle via the adjustment wheel, to confirm my new tooth was the correct size and shape to work properly without binding and locking up the whole clock assembly, filing my new tooth as required.
Once assembled my clock worked fine... although the next one I tried also appeared to have some electrical problems I have not yet resolved...
