So I'm looking to buy a prelude and I found some interesting deals.
I found a '81 1.6-80hp with 150,000kms not to bad shape, needs a new spray.
And I also found a '90 2.0 4WS with 185,000kms in what looks to be pretty good shape. The price difference between these two is very low.

I personally like the styling of the 1g more but the 3g is a more comfortable and powerful car. What should I pick?? Opinions please!

I'm preferable to the 3g. I think it's beautiful, but know nothing more about it. The 1g is kinda frumpy looking to me.

How is it that they are so close to the same price? The one sounds like a beater (ie: bad paint), which makes the other way too cheap. What's wrong with it?

...oh, never mind, it has the 4 wheel steering. Tell me that it blows up in very expensive ways and parts are no longer available for it.

which one had the dual carb? , run don't walk from that one, that and the one with the cvcc carb. the dual electronic carbs didn't even work right when new, thats why so few are around. The dealers couldn't even fix the things, They were one of Honda's failures, I think that engine would be a good one for someone to do the four throttle body setup, rip off the 56 miles of rubber tubing, and maby for itbs with a megasquirt system. it also would be pretty easy to modify that with a couple of big sidedraft webbers or a couple of big bike carbs. it's only 1.8 litre there are plenty of carbed bikes bigger then that.

3rd gen Prelude 4WS was upper spec wasn't it ? So should be fuel injected (we only got upper spec here). & 3rd gen 4WS was purely mechanical so has a better reputation than the electronic 4th gen 4WS.

2l 16v injected 3rd gen should be able to out-everything an original 1.8 CVCC or 1.6 (non-CVCC so nice & simple) Prelude.
But they're still dead common compared to 1g & bigger in every way.

That's because for some reason (maybe because they are rare or the owners like them so much) the Prelude 1G prices are inflated here in Portugal.
To give you an idea, I found 12 1gs for sale right now and prices range from 750€ to 5000€. I dought that the ones over 3000€ will sell.

This one is Euro spec, I'm not sure what engine it has but I believe its Fuel Injection.

I was going to go with the 1G, I really like the oldschool look of the car,
but the 3G I found looks like a good deal. I'm stuck..

I will probably be going with the 3G as it seems like a good deal. It's the fuel injection engine also.
I just need to go check out the car and see if its as good condition as the seller claims.

Does it actually say 2.0Si on the back of the 90 or does it just say Si? Unless is says 2.0Si (and that's the original badge) then you'll be buying a 2.1-liter B21A1 which will burn oil like a motherfucker. I had one and it drank about a quart every 300-400 miles.

That said, fantastic car, would love to own another one. 4WS is incredible. And B20A5/JDM B20A motors are relatively inexpensive.

I asked the guy what engine it had and he answered it was a 2.0 injection.
Until I go and see the car I really don't know.
The pictures don't help, I can't make out whats on the badge.

Also I think the 2.1 was not available in Europe so Im pretty sure it's not a 2.1

After a little research on the web I think the badge says: 4WS 2.0i-16

That would make it a B20A9 engine (16-Valve, DOHC, PGM-FI) found on Non-U.S. 1990-1991 Preludes.

Power 140 hp (104 kW)@6000 rpm
Torque 129tq (175 Nm) @ 4500rpm
Compression ratio 10.5:1

Oh! This is one of those brain teasers, isn't it? I think it says "Chicken."
