V-tec is a seperate hydrolic rocker that follows a bigger cam lobe then the stock lobes.

It's like having 2 camshafts rolled into 1.

The computer controls when the other lobe on the camshaft is used... thats where the "EC" in V-TEC comes from.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

"Vtech" is a phone, "VTEC" is a third rocker arm....

Go to http://www.howthingswork.com to read all about VTEC.

VTEC is hondas little invention on a programmable cam.

Cam being the part that controls the valves that let the air/fuel mixture into the cylynder, and the valves that let the exaust out.

you either have to have your cams set to have high end power (high RPM) or low end power (Low RPM) most cars are set to somewhere in the middle or somewhat lower so they would have good under 3500 RPM power, but with VTEC it changes the cam programming so youd have the best of both worlds....or..thats my understanding of it, im only 17 dont, expect much from me
