It shows at O'Reilly online that a BBK 5007 Intake manifold works for a 1983 Honda Accord L4 w/EK1 engine.

However, I thought that was only for the 1.8L EFI engines from the Honda/Acuras from the late 90's on up and can't work on a carbureted car.

Yeah that's only for B-series manifolds. Definitely not for your EK1.

That engine compartment looks so much more packed then the carbureted version. I'm getting one (85 SE-i) tomorrow and now wondering where a cool air intake could possibly fit.

Does anyone know the specs on fuel mileage for the EFI over carburetor for the 85? I know most people mod these for racing and style, but I'm going to see how far I can get the gas to stretch. Any suggestions?

Haha! All that mess is mostly just the airbox. Once you remove it, it's a lot less complicated, and any generic air intake piping will fit. As far as actually getting cool air though, you may need to do a battery relocate... the other option may be to route the air filter down by the transmission.

well, with the hood up that looks like a VERY cold air intake.
