Hi!
I have a 87 Accord exi with the euro model of headlights. When im looking for stuff to uppgrade it with its mostly US models they fit.

What are the big differenses between US and euro models?

And what are the diffrenses between 86-87 and 88-89?

usa never came with fixed headlights....you could get some HIDs for your lights to make them brighter

Difference between US and non-US sedans:
- front fascia
- tail lights/trunk lid/bumper (depends)
- (possible) rear wiper (non-US)
- engine
- small interior things (varies between countries)

Non-US countries got a lot of cool upscale models with cool accessories. The US got the SE-i. (:

difference between '86-7 and '88-9 US:
- facelift in '88: sedans received a new front bumper, new side trim, new rear bumper, new inner tail lights, new corners, new eyelids, and new hood trim
- hatches just got the corners, eyelids, and hood trim
- coupes just came into the market, so they started with the whole facelift

I'm not sure how the Aerodeck was affected in all of this.

While on the subject, what's the biggest diff between the 86-87 and 88-89 LX-i? Isn't it just the intake manifold?

Its the way the intake was built. You would have to compare the two and then you would understand. there was a thread somewhere ima try and find it.

From what I've read the 88-89 FI models had a different exhaust manifold as well as the intake manifold.

Also, the 88-89 FI models had different front steering knuckles to accommodate larger brakes.

The 88-89 have a 4-2-1 exhaust design where the 86-87 has a 4 into 1 exhaust an the intake on the 86-87 has a dual butterfly throttle body and straight through intake and the 88-89 has a single butterfly throttle body and a split plenum intake and where it splits at it also has a set of butterflys in the runners to build up torque at lower rpms and lets it breath at the upper rpms. and also the 86-87 a20a3 has 8.8 compression and the 88-89 has 9.3 because the pistons have less of a dish than the 86-87.

I have an 89 LX I wanna convert to Fuel Injected. I have a 86 intake mani but I'm gonna have to get a 89 intake mani from the junk yard or buy from some one else here.

or you can skip the accord manifold all together and just get a b-series one :)

Now I have to go on a search mission to find out if the B16A manifold is direct bolt on or requires drilling.

It requires drilling and a bit of cutting I think.

how about a b20 a5 intake mani?

how about a b20 a5 intake mani?

That ons is the same as the b16. You have to modify it too.

The B20A5 doesn't fit. Not even close.

I know they are different, but do the pre and post face lift front corner lights interchange?

charliekuney
03-24-2010, 08:45 PM
The ones next to the headlights? Yes, but they look different and the "patterns" changed ('86-7 have dots, '88-9 has lines).

Harrison_Bergeron
03-24-2010, 09:22 PM
I think mine are both broken, so if I can find a good set from a pre-facelift I'll just call it custom.

You "think"?

Harrison_Bergeron
03-24-2010, 09:54 PM
I need to make a list of all the little things that need replacing, but haven't yet. I think one of the corner lights is actually broken and missing some glass/plastic, and the other is just cracked.

I wanted to get a PM out to a guy in the classifieds tonight for parts I know I need, and figured I'd check on the corner lights too.

pretty sure the sway bars were upgraded for 88-89, also a lot fewer vacuum tubes in 88-89

ah yes, i sorta skimmed the thread without reading properly. my bad. but yeah i'm guessing those b-series intakes flow better than accord ones, and they look more simpler tooo

The ITR motor has the same head as the B16, so the ITR mani should have the same benefits as the B16 mani.

I'm tellin' you. Go to Pick Your Part at Beach and Ball, you never know what you will find. There was an SEi with the rear disc setup still on it.

I will, I'm picking up a fender and headlight motor from a 3geez member for cheaper than PYP on a half off day and thought I'd get as many little things as possible while I was there, I did change my mind on the blinkers though.

I'm still doing my own brake conversion, too many people have shown interest for me to give up without trying.
