View Full Version : Trunk on coupe and sedan and doors on coupe and hatch

Will a trunk on a 1988 two door coupe and four door sedan swap? Will the doors on a 3 door hatch and two door coupe swap?

The doors will swap between the hatch and coupe. As for the trunk lid, I'm not exactly sure. I believe the lid itself, as in the metal portion, will. The taillight assembly will have to be from whatever car your installing it onto (sedan for sedan, coupe for coupe)

Sentence 1: Are the trunks on the coupes and sedans interchangeable?
Sentence 2: Are the doors on the coupes and hatches interchangeable?

Really wasn't half as hard as some of shyboys posts to understand ;)

Lol true true but not about this haha mostly cause I didn't know what to ask about or what the names of the parts back then so searching and reading helped me out but it can't be worse than this one

1: No: The sedan's lid is wider, by about 1/4" and does not fit. The only lids that are interchangeable are the '86-7 sedan and '88-9 sedan. (:
2: Yes, but the hatch's trim is lower, so they won't line up (looks-wise) with a coupes and vice versa with the coupe's being higher than a hatch's.

im not sure if its an american and canadian difference or what. but my coupe has the seat belts made on the door its self. I bought a set of doors from a guy on here they were off a coupe as well but the seat belts were not made on the door. they were made to bolt to the door post like the hatch.

so im not sure if it is because my coupe is from the usa and the doors that i bought are from a canadian model. anyway just thought i'd throw that out there.

i have yet to look behind the interior pannels in my coupe to see if the holes are there from the factory to bolt in the seat belts. If they are im gonna use the doors.

k thanks i didnt know that. are the holes still there on an 88 and 89 to bolt the seat belts to the pillar?

Every hatch I've seen has the belts on the doors. Mike's '86 hatch is like that...

my 87 hatch has them on the post. my 89 coupe has them on the doors. my spare doors i bought had them on the post but idk what year coupe they came from. i have the seat belts for them. hopefully they will bolt into my 89 coupe.

yes there behind the door in my hatch.... ill take pics if u want lol.... i have the interior panels and everything from a coupe with them behind the door as well so i hope i can swap my coupes doors with the ones i bought and locate the seat belts behind the doors.

This cant be true then because my doors i bought from import racer came from an 88 and they were made on the pillar. my coupe is an 89 and there made on the door.... the doors did come from an exi tho my coupe is a dx.
