Did you put in some extra-powerful headlight bulbs by any chance? The weakest part of the headlight circuit is the headlight switch, which is the first to go because of a high current draw. The usual failure mode of the switch is for the low beams to go. That's what I would bet it is. I assume both lows failed at the same time.

You'll need a new combination switch. I have a couple sitting that I don't need, as long as you have a sedan or coupe.

check the fuses inside the car...i think its a 15 amp fuse for the low beams

its 10amp for the low beams. anyway bought a circuit tester (never use one before) but the guy at the shop said should be able to pinpoint out where the problem is.

Last time this happened to me, it turned out to be one of the connectors at the top of the fuse block (under the dash). I can't remember which it was, it was the top row, either left or center. Pins of the connector (fuse block side) were corroded/burnt. Cleaned and tightened the connection and it was fine.

yep turns out it was the combination switch, the low beams still work sometimes wriggling the switch around so does this mean its repairable? do i have to remove the steering wheel to fix it? if someone has one willing to send to aus let me know thanks
