HI, i am new and been reading so it seems for days. I have a 89' Acccord, FI. First thing in the morning i start it up, perfectly, but the idle goes to 2100 and stays there pretty much til the engine is warm. anyways i can do away with this to say my auto tranny from being shifted into R or D at that RPM?? Any help is great, thanks

Could be a leak in the coolant system, around the PGM-FI thing. My sister's LX-i had the same problem.

Does it exhibit any other idle issues?

well...when i have it in gear the idle seems too low cause the whole car vibrates, so i raised the idle and it helps for a times but went back down...and oh yeah, the all time favorite. Sometimes before it gets warm it does the whole rev up and down thing that ive read so much about on here haha, maybe one problem causes all of this?

Check your coolant level and check for vacuum leaks. You can also try cleaning your idle air control valve. Follow this link to do it.

If you take the top off the fast idle valve that plastic plunger can be turned(adjusted) with a quarter. I would lube it a lil before you try it. I have found most idle up after a cold start too high. Bleeding the coolant lines there and at the EACV helps also.
