So far here is my system.

Sony XM-ZR704 700 watt 4 channel amp (for my speakers, 70 watts x 4 ch)
TMA T6.5F2 Speakers (2 pairs, regrettably. Bought them before I knew how unnecessary rear speakers are)
Clarion PXW1051 1000 watt sub (500 watt RMS, picked it up for $70 at a car audio show yesterday :D)
POWER ACOUSTIK OVN1-2000 2000 watt Class D amp (600 watts RMS to my sub)

My question is, being that my wiring kit is only 4 gauge and I am very averse to the idea of buying a new one, and that any distro block I can find with a 4 gauge input does 8 gauge outputs, will the 8 gauge handle 600 watts to my sub ok? Its going to be around 2 feet of 8 gauge tops.

Thanks for reading the post guys, I know its long.

Small wires will put stress on everything, your amps will work hard to draw current through the small wire and the battery/alternator will have more load on it. and your lights will start dimming and alternators will blow regulators. wiring is pretty important, i would just get another cable and run it, i have two 4 gauge cables running to my big amp in the rear. seems to do the job and my amps "factory rated" to 600wrmsX2 and ive got it bridged into my sub. i doubt it really puts out that power but still.

for my speaker amp which is up the front of the car i have a seperate 8 gauge wire running from the battery to it.

just run to home depot or a stereo shop that sells 4 awg by the foot if you fell uncomfortable

but 8awg should be just fine for a short distance

My problem is that I can't find a 4 AWG in/4 AWG out distro block. I suppose I could go with a 1/0 to 4 block, the wire will be clamped down by a screw/bolt. My only other option was to run 2 8 AWG lines from the distro to the amp. Even if I got a 70/30 power split between the wires I would be fine.

here, and it's not that much, this is 4 gauge in 4 gauge out, you can daisy chain them together really easy http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/1557763/vpcsid/0/SFV/30046

8 awg wire will be no problem at all, as long as you keep the runs from the distro block to the amps fairly short, which they should be anyways.

Those amps you have are digital and shouldn't draw huge amounts of current so you should be just fine.

Thanks hash man. Yeah my buddy who's building a 2000 watt system said it sounds "super sketchy", but he drives a Cavalier so who really cares what his opinion is.

On a side note, holy crap, you're from Alberta. I didn't realize there was any others here. Awesome.

EDIT: I just found out my speakers run at 150 watts RMS, so I'm ditching the rears.

why

also is he running 200 watts rms in a caviler lol sounds a lil over kill

i used to be huge into the wattage and big speakers

but now i just want clarity lol
single 8 in a ported box at about 150watts sounds so much better then booming bass

I am new here, however, I may have something in my trunk of goodies from my installer days.....think i still have something from Stinger that will do what you need it to. And for splitting power from a distro block, it may have been said already, but you should always use same size gauge, no matter what the run size.

Yeah I got a job at future shop (I'm assuming you're from victoria, BC, so you'll know it) and I've pretty much spent every day in the install bay talking to the lead installer. He suprisingly knows his stuff. Builds competition cars, and is doing a resto on a Nova at the moment. The staff discount is gonna get me enough of that super flexible 4 gauge and a 4ga in/4ga out block for stupid cheap.

I probably know him...lol

(PS: Have you LOOKED at the markup of Stinger kits?! Should be rollin in that stuff in no time!)
