I'm new to this but I decided to join this forum because you don't see these cars anymore on the road and I think the one I got looks pretty decent. You can say it's going to be my hobby almost if not an everyday driver. The more I drive it the more it grows on me. So it's 1989 Honda Accord DX 86k miles no A/C, no right side mirror, stick. Let me know what you guys think and how much it really costs.

I can't get the images to post for some reason. Anyone can tell me how I can do it. Thnx.

you have to have 5 or 10 post before you can post images you can post links to images i believe.

89 dx with under 100k is better then what most people here pick up but

the dx is the bottom of the totom poll whwn it comes to trims

no ac crappy radio carb no power anything windows / locks no cruise control( i think)

was pretty much the baseline accord

but the up side of not having all that stuff is it weighed a lot less then the big brother the lx or lxi

so the lack of hp was not so bad when it came to weight to hp ratio

its hard to say how much its worth without seeing it but lets jsut say the last 3 accords ive bough went like this

88 lx sedan $300
89 lx sedan $400
87 lxi hatch $500

looks good. lower it!

Honda_Hobby
05-21-2010, 06:56 AM
I thought about lowering it but then again I dont know if that will do anything good for the ride. As ghettogredy mentioned no power in either of these accords so going fast isn't an option. I was thinking on getting some 15inch rims tinting the windows and basically it for now. Anyone got any idea what size rims I can put on it without rolling fenders?

Go to the main page under the mechanical section, you will see the topic "suspension/wheels/tires/brakes". Take your time and you will find way more than you could have ever imagined. I'm running a set of 16x8/40 offset with 215?/45/16 kuhmos, lowered 2 inches and I didn't roll my fender. Good luck with your build.

i actually have a set of really nice lowering springs. they rode like stock and were a little lower (maybe 1.5 or 2 inch) and i didn't have any problems with rubbing, bottoming out, or any major camber wear either. they just weren't low enough for me though. i can sell em to ya ;)

Thanks for the offer Hondamonster but I think I'll keep it stock for now. I may even sell it if it gets too hot for me afterall no A/C in the summer is a bit rough.

Looks like a great start. Clean, I didn't see much if any rust. High five for having the same hubcaps as I do! lol

I'd honestly rather have this than mine. No power is a good thing to me in cars this old. Eventually all those old ass motors and wiring go out and cause issues.

Thanks Edison. The car has only one little spot where it is rusty and thats by the license plates lights in the back you cant see it unless u take the molding off. On the one hand no A/C and less features means less weight and faster car but in reality this car aint built for speed just comfortable crusing.

yea these are great handling cars, there is one heck of a suspension under there. there are easy upgrades you can do such as the larger lxi brakes, bigger sway bar etc.

I want the mirror delete plate. :D

Honda_Hobby

Themirror delete plate is broken but i have the broken piece as well now waiting for the rh mirror to arrive so i could install it. Will trade delete plate for the interrior plate with the hole for manual adjuster

wow! for a northeast car that body is MINT looking and doesn't appear to be touched by the cancer. has it been repainted?

maybe you can make it out to a local 3geez get together this summer...

Nothing has been painted on this car its all original. My 2003 pathfinder has more scratches then this car. About that meet let me know where and when maybe I can make it there.

Emmision laws are pretty tough in NYC if u got absolutely anything wrong with your car it fails so I can't remove the vacum box and frankly don't want to. Car runs great always starts right up sometimes on the second try but with carb you can expect that.

I may be the only one saying this, but it looks great stock! You may as well keep it that way.

It'll probably last longer, too.

Yeah you probably right. I only want to do three things. 1) Tint windows as there is no A/C 2) get bigger wheels 3) lower it and inch.

You should start with the fender and shift knob.

Fixing the AC would still qualify as keeping it stock.

vac system is the only bad thing with these car's but there is no problem at all with keeping the emission systems , just make sure to take extra care of it as if you getaleak in it , you could have any number of problems as far as not starting you should tap the gas pedal to the floor everytime before you start it , this is my personal experience i have 191k on mine all stock , with a stage 1 vac removal Starts up first time everytime ,

will you be joining us at the pa meet?

Got the fender fixed. Changed all oils and filters except transmission oil that one is tricky even to get to. Where and when is the meet in PA? I need to work that into my schedule.

These integras had vtec n 1 had hondata ecu n other had full msd ignition mod. I aint got none of that advanced mod shit. I ran a nuespeed intake, skunk 2 injectors, straight piped exhaust and hi temp oil lines with hi pressure air hoses. My ecu, headers, ignition system was all stock but i stayed 2 car lengths with dem.my bro got a 5spd cb7 with f22. It got 9mm wires n a short ram n i beat him by a car length. D series without enternals got demolished.a20a3 aint no joke 2 b a 2.o single cam without vtec bruh.

Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately for me mine is a carb engine so I wound a shop in new jersey that sells jdm b20a motors I want to swing by there next week to take a look and ask some question. I think that engine would be a perfect fit for my accord.

One is located at 314 colfax ave in clifton NJ (877)2497990 and the other jam engine depot I lost the adress but still got the phone number (201)9559556. Good luck hopefully they got what you need.

Yeah it's pretty clean for a 20+ year old car. But I still would like to repaint the whole body and clean everything up. As for the fender I got that straightened out and painted for $100 bucks. Those guys next to CitiField will do anything real cheap.

I think they kinda look good only on few cars with specific color. They remind me of british plates.

Agreed they seem to look decent on some colors but most don't look good with them the old plates seemed universal

MD just changed their plates. I haaaate them.

The old ones were nice and simple. I'm going to be paying to transfer my old plates whenever I get a new car from now on.

Took some more pictures. Its funny how this car grows on me. After driving it non stop for a whole month and 5k miles later I can't really drive my SUV anymore and putting $20 worth of gas in it everyday when it cover a whole week in accord.

Gotta love the 3rd gen. I couldnt drive the civic i got free cause i owned an 87 EX-i beforehand. Its an addiction, but it costs less than a new car, and its more comfertable, so theres realy no reason to go to rehab. lol

Yeah its totally weird. For example today i noticed a piece of plastic molding missing from the side of the drivers side door and man I got pissed. I've seen scratches the size of a book on my truck made by someone that didn't get me this angry. I'm actually planning to go to PA junkyard to look for the missing part just because it doesn't let me sleep at night. I want to find that person who broke that piece off and choke them to death.
